It''s the opposite for me. I find it much easier to photograph loose gemstones than those set in rings. I just cannot get the angle right and I refuse to take finger shots.

You could put it in a ring box with a white background and then take the picture that way.

Sorry to keep recycling this thread. Just adding to it for fun. It''s fun taking pics now. Green and pink diamond ring in morning sun. The diamonds fluoresce, which you can see by their haziness. The middle diamond is very difficult to get a decent shot of. The camera clearly shows the inclusions.
