Such an odd but fun little stone!!! Took some daylight pics today. The glow is super hard to capture with my potato phone camera.

Yessss...your new stone was clearly the best pick of the new parcels. And YES PLEASE to that (white sapphire?) pear above. I really want to see hand shots - I don't think I've ever seen a stone like that on PS. I think the stone on the right is very pretty, and will end up looking similar to the stone I posted about (and therefore, substantially similar to what you just ordered). For variety's sake, I would go for the blueish one, and especially because that white-blue glow seems to be more rare than the pink. Naturally I have also been on the hunt for one in that shade as well, kicking myself for having missed one on insta a few months ago.

Omg. I'm feeling faint.

Stone arrived today! Man these are sooo hard to get good pics of. I can't capture what I see IRL. it's both saturated and glowy/soft. Tried my best with pics but they just dont quite get it right. I'll try to take more in the next few days 20210303_122145.jpg 20210303_121936.jpg 20210303_122136.jpg 20210303_122211.jpg 20210303_122057.jpg

It's such a unique stone! I do love it, but wish I had been fast enough to grab one of the *slightly * more opalescent ones.

This is so lovely and unique!

It's amazing how she keeps her glow no matter what lighting she's in. So cool! I want one too, but in purple

Is this considered opalescent sapphire or simply cloudy?

IMHO this isn't opalescent because it doesn't have that combination of "milky" and the "opalescent" brightness. It's hard to explain, but this is a unique "cloudy" stone but not opalescent

@OreoRosies86 is there a way to contact you now that LT is down (do you have diamond bistro)? I decided that though I love this stone, I'm not *in love* with it and want to hold out for something even more opalescent. Thanks!

Perfect! I also have DB but sometimes posting ads on there is a pain! I'll use that to contact you :)

This is what ebay had to offer for $32. It has interesting color and inclusions which were fun to look at with my new loupe. It has a rainbow inclusion which is what made it look opalescent in the vendor photos. I can't really decide what it is, but I like it for $32 lol. Any thoughts? 20210316_102022.jpg 20210315_213654.jpg

I think that’s a great find! A cheerful color and a cool inclusion for less than 50 bucks is a win in my book.

Oh no, now I’m hooked too! I just bought a cheap returnable one off Ebay that looks opalescent in the vendor’s videos, to see how I like it in real life

The stone I bought isn't what I hoped for. It's pretty, but I'm not in love. There were too many choices, which I suck at. I didn't know what I was looking for in a stone that's supposed to be imperfect. So, what did I do? I bought another one. :wall: It hasn't arrived yet. The first one was held-up at US Customs forever. They even opened it.

This is the first one, his photo:

If you want to buy again from the same vendor, my pick is the one below.
58C37D08-C1D3-45F1-A83E-9438E6B5440A.jpeg

You can see in the video it is more saturated and more "opalescent" than the others. I will note that while the two pink stones I've seen in-hand from this vendor are pretty and fun, if you are really after opalescence, I would keep looking.

I recently bought a true opalescent sapphire from this vendor, and would recommend this stone:

I’m sorry it didn’t come as expected. How is it different? Will you show pics?

I am still interested but still confused haha. Would either stone from this ring be opalescent?

What stone are they saying this is?

~
Finewater is describing his rose quartz as opalescent. I wonder if the material varies.

It seems to me that unless a stone is very opalescent, you can't necessarily tell from a photo. That being said, if a stone has a reasonable amount of opalescence, you can DEFINITELY tell from a video. I saw the above video on IG, and my response was, "Hmm." The stones are shown under very bright light. I'm sure they are pretty, and it's probably not a bad deal, but if you have to wonder if they're opalescent, they're not - they're sleepy.

Also, someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think part of the effect is caused by pink flashes, of perhaps even an underlying pink body color. The two stones in the ring show no pink.
