Seems like a decent diamond maybe? Thoughts? Vs2, would any of those flaws be seen by the eye? If anyone has a chance if there are some better ones around 2500 and you have a second to check out the website. Unfortunately the ring she wants is from there, the twist rose gold. Let me know guys:gals thanks!

The J oval you posted is quite nice, though I think the slightly tinted ends of the J oval will be easily visible ...

I found this 0.81ct I-SI1 oval which looks very promising based on the video and the GIA report - it has very similar dimensions to the stone you posted - but the I color and the medium fluorescence will make for a whiter-facing stone - and the cost is $190 less than the J stone! This oval will be gorgeous in a rose gold twist setting.

OP, are you open to using other vendors for your oval? Brilliant Earth is typically overpriced.

The setting they have is what she has her heart on.

The James’s Allen pave twist just looks a little weird IMO compared to the BE one? I’m open to options.

Can you link to the BE setting?

My concern with that setting is that it looks like the prongs are located where a wedding band will rub. That is a structural concern as you'll get thinning in the prongs (not good for a diamond).

Selecting ovals from BE is a challenge because they over-flood the films with light (making everything whiter than reality) and they twist the diamond on the wrong axis. They also don't provide ASET images, which makes is harder. My suggestion is that we focus on finding the best diamond for your budget. Once that is on hold, you can find the setting. A number of us have worked with David Klass in LA for custom settings. He's made a near-identical copy of that BE ring. You might get a quote from him while we look for a diamond.

So, my suggested changes would be to: re-work the prongs to not allow rubbing and not adding a peg-head, and slightly twist the pave outward to provide a better side-view. Right now you have a wall of metal. @sledge was looking for a twisted setting also and might have a few to recommend.

As a shape, ovals do not hide body color well. The elongate shape will tend to have color concentration where the tips have more color than the belly. I usually limit my search to I color and above (H is actually preferred). I'm not having any luck finding good ovals in this range. I'll keep looking!

Summary. Calling @tyty333, @farrahlyn, @Niel, @diamondseeker2006, @SimoneDi. Looking for $2500 oval, $1500 setting (twisted pave shank, 4-prong; does not like JA's). Brilliant Earth is preferred vendor, but I've suggested to open to all.

You know what after looking at the pave rope from JA, i looked at the consumers pictures and it looks 10x better than the pictures they have on the website. Lets just skip all the BE and custom, she will love the look of the JA ring. Their model picture just looks wonky for some reason!
So we will stick with JA and the pave rope or twist(havent decided)
1. should the prongs be silver or rose gold for a more fluent look?
also got a 15% off entire order coupon so, heck yeah.
Now for the stone!

the CADs always look SO awful, glad you went and looked at the finished rings. i love the JA twist setting, it's SO pretty. that first Artcarved Sweet Pea setting that @rockysalamander posted is GORGEOUS!! I completely agree with rocky too that you need to stick with I color and above. Even in Rose Gold, a J stone is more than likely going to be too tinted.

So doing the math, your all in budget is $4k? is that correct? Not finding a ton...

this MAY be eye clean, i can't see the inclusions when i zoom out. it does have strong fluoro though and i don't know if that is an issue. Would have to make sure that it's not causing any haziness in the stone

aannnnd, throwing this out there because you can't get a better cut oval than an August Vintage. it IS slightly above budget though.

Of those posted from JA, I like the D/SI1 the best. It should be clean and you can't get any whiter. It's slightly larger, and I also think the faceting is nicer than the E/SI1.

Wanted to add that the strong fluoro doesn't seen to cause any milkiness/haziness at all. It looks crystal clear from the stills and the video.

I agree with all of @rockysalamander's points above... I also don't like the the BE setting has rose gold prongs, which can add color to the stone by the prongs reflecting in the diamond... the JA version in rose gold has white metal prongs, which is much more aesthetically pleasing to my eye.

EXACT combo i was thinking, i like the rope setting better than the twist. the D was definitely my favorite stone out of those i posted, (eye clean enough for me) such a great price for that color! i do like a warmer stone in Rose gold but the icy white in rose gold is stunning.
