Is the hesitation over the color or the fact that it is included (assuming from the O/I indication)? Can he get you more pictures of the ring? That seems fair since you wouldn''t be able to return it.
Yes maisie I agree with FireGoddess. Maybe tell him that you are a poster on Pricescope and that everyone is being positive about OMC but you are not sure of the colour. Maybe ask him to do side by side comparsion shots with a new RB or lower OMC so you can get some idea of what this O stone really looks like

I don''t know anyone in New York who could go and look at it for me. That would have been wonderful.

FG - the inclusions don''t bother me at all. I like that a diamond has ''birthmarks'', its the colour. I am really in love with the setting but I feel that an ''o'' might be too far along the scale for me. Without seeing it in normal light I can''t commit the money. Its a lot for me to spend in the hope that I will like it. I will ask if Leon can show me some more pictures of it.

Have you asked him how much it would cost to make the ring for you with you supplying the diamond?

It is a very beautiful ring

Hi Jayrenay,

I have asked Leon to send me some more photos of the ring in normal lighting so I can see how coloured the diamond is. I have also had a conversation with Whiteflash to see if they can make the design for me and use one of their a cut above diamonds in the centre.
I am worried about the no return policy on the Leon ring so I''m not sure how much further we can go on that one. Depending on the quote from Whiteflash I could approach Leon about making a different ring for me.

Maise-
I am sorry that this might not happen for you- but maybe it wasn''t meant to be.
The color really could have bothered you- O is a lot of color. Yes, antique stones "hide" their color, but each portion of the color spectrum gets broader as you go down, so an O is going to have a lot more color than an M, compared to the amount of color a J has compared to an H...
Do you know what the color of the stones in the micropave of the halo are?
Personally if this stone had been set in yellow or rose gold I would be more interested (ooh possibly w/ sapphire pave yum- that would make the stone pop!) My M transitional brilliant definitely looks different than the I-J side stones I have.
ld
Another thing to consider is what the cost of this stone alone would be- my amatuer guess would be well under 2K per carat (this is based on the appraisal of my M VS2) - what I am getting at is, yes, this cou be a beautiful ring and a charming and lovely stone, but I wouldn''t take the risk.

I would worry that you would always love the setting but question the stone.

I want to have my e-ring setting re-done (same basic style, but bring the stones lower to my finger) and I got a quote from Leon & after giving it a lot of thought decided against it- I figured it would be like putting expensive rims on Yugo.

Anyway- good luck with your search!

Hi Dtnyc

The side stones are white - thats all it says on the description, then again it says that the centre diamond is white too. I agree that I am very concerned about the level of colour in the centre stone. Its really upsetting for me to have searched for the last 6 months - found a setting I love - now I have to probably start again. I can get Whiteflash to make a similar ring and I know it will be beautiful.... it will also have a diamond I definitely can live with.

I have been, from the start, very impressed with WF and the level of customer service they give. John Pollard called me one evening just to explain something about lower girdle facets...he didn''t have to do that - in fact he had his fiance patiently waiting for him to take her out to dinner. I appreciate things like that.

Everyone here has been very supportive too. I have posted loads of messages about settings and diamonds. Nobody has been irritated with my dumb questions. I am truly grateful for that. I must admit that they will probably breathe a sigh of relief when I eventually get my ring!!

Oh, Maisie...I''m so sorry about this.

I can certainly understand why this return policy (or lack of one for items under 10 thou) would be a deal breaker. I''m actually sort of shocked....

Rats!

Maise, I agree with dtnc, if it''s not meant to be, so be it. As dissapointing as it is. You will find your dream ring.

And for heavens sakes, of course you don''t irritate us with your questions!

It is hard to swallow but I can''t spend the money hoping I would like it. I was really upset..... am considering throwing a tantrum! Oh well .... back to the drawing board

Sorry about the ring...I would have difficulty buying a ring I couldn''t return if i wasn''t completely happy with it either. Holy run-on sentence

I''m a bit surprised by that return policy and to me it would be a red flag for sure. There''s no reason for no return policy no matter how much or not the ring costs. The good news is that style seems to be very "in" right now and I''m sure you can have it made in any number of places with the color center stone you really want. I''ve seen alot of women on PS with halo settings so you''ll definately be able to find one somewhere quite easily, and with a return policy. Have you looked at the Ritani settings? I''m sure someone in UK could get one for you.

I''m really sorry, too, Maisie. I guess I''d just have to say that since custom work is almost never returnable, and everything Leon does is really custom/one-of-a-kind, I am not totally shocked that the ring is not returnable. It certainly might hinder sales, though, because I probably couldn''t make a commitment on it either without trying it on. That is one reason I have been hesitant to go custom for my own ring.

Hopefully you''ll end up with something that you really love even more!

Bummer about the no return policy thing...I definitely wouldn''t order a $3000 anything without being able to return it, so I understand you passing on the ring. I''m with Widget, I think it''s pretty shocking that you have to drop $10000 to be able to return something. I would understand if it was custom, but that doesn''t seem to be the case here.

Not to be cheesy, but I really think everything happens for a reason with stuff like this...you will end up with the perfect ring for you, I''m sure!

Maisie,
I''d offer, but I''m colour-insensitive.

I am definitely disappointed. Its a shame as I wonder how many people will buy that particular ring without seeing the diamond first. Oh well.... Its Mr Mege''s loss!

Harriet I appreciate the offer - color insensitive? I wish I was!!

I just left NYC 2 weeks ago- if I was still up there, I totally would have gone and checked it out and compared it to my M- even though I am not super-color sensitive, it would have been a good stone to compare it to- also I would have loved to have seen Leon''s place...

Thank you Dtnyc. It would have been great to hear someone elses opinion on this ring. Its so beautiful! I wish I was a risk taker! I''m just far too careful I''m afraid.

Maise, I never would have bought that ring without a return policy either. Or any ring for that matter.

No - its not a good idea. I have spoken to Celina from WF last night and she is going to call me back today about a custom design similar to the Leon ring. This way I can get the setting I like with a diamond I will love. I hope the price is affordable so I can get it ordered!
