until then, this is about the best you are gonna get

I''m glad you worked things out, but like our wise secretary says, make sure you get to the bottom of whatever incited the whole mess to make sure there won''t be any more flare ups. Oh, and don''t make us wait until you get engaged for pics!!!

The only bad news I have is that my digital camera is an utterly useless piece of crap!!! Seriously, IT WON''T EVEN STAY ON, and it has a brand new battery, it belongs in the trash. I''m really tempted to go buy something else tomorrow because this one I have was a complete waste of money... Hopefully I will be able to post hand pics tomorrow ~ I will be out of class at noon so that will give me a little more time to get it done.

Egad! How do people respond to everyone in one post?? I can''t keep track of it all!!
14.gif

We didn''t have a digital camera, so I bought one for K as an anniversary gift because I knew my e-ring was my anniversary present. Thought I was being clever, but didn''t end up taking many photos because I sent the ring back. And now I''m on #2 and thinking of returning it too
39.gif
As soon as my stomach can take it I plan to post the whole saga.

Wow, Teebee had a NICE short stay on the list!

So since it''s time for picture pages, Here''s the pic I posted waaaaay back of my honey and me at a wedding I was in in Georgia....I''m standing on a chair (he''s a foot taller than I am!) Not the best, but I am in love with that BM dress, so....fun to share:) This was my college roomie''s wedding and the girl is a bit of an heiress. It''s a Helen Morely COUTURE dress!! Made to measure--I was fitted by the designer herself--and of course the bride paid for all 6 dresses (the budget for which is almost my whole wedding budget!) Not to mention the RUBY necklace/earring BM gifts. This was an easily-6-figure wedding. ELABORATE. And you know what? The most stressed bride of all the weddings I''ve been a part of. I love her so much, but it was a big lesson that a huge budget does not a meaningful wedding make.

Oh, sciencegeek, I didn''t know about your whole ring saga!!
7.gif
Fill us in when you feel ready.

This is the last one, but a more casual pic--from another wedding''s rehearsal dinner.

When I MOVE back to CA (in less than 2 weeks, YIKES!!!) I have to post one from YET ANOTHER wedding.....b/c of the gorgeous 2 golden retriever ringbearers(!) in the wedding--I think GG might enjoy the pics!!!

JCJD- Cute photo! I''d hesitate showing that one to my parents
31.gif
I have a friend whose driver''s license photo got cropped like that. Not a single speeding ticket to this day
2.gif
1.gif

Lauren- you guys are adorable too! Love your guy''s dark and scruffy look.

SJS- those are going to be some good lookin'' babies
1.gif

BlueChica and Lovey- you all look like you''re having so much fun in your photos! I like shots like that better than more posed ones. They feel more personal, and let you know more about the people in them.

rfath, you and your honey look like you should be in a movie about drag racing or something. I know that''s a weird thing to say, but you both look so bada$$
1.gif
And I remember you mentioning your awesome Mini before too
1.gif

Blueroses, that is one awesome gown!! Do you think you could wear it again to some other event? It would be such a shame for it to hide in the closet.

Whew, I think I covered all the photos. Hope I didn''t forget any.

Apple- Was it you who wanted to know about custom settings from Whiteflash? I had a heinous experience with them, although I feel much better about it now than I did before (but I still might return their 2nd attempt at the ring and start over with a new jeweler). I would be careful who you work with. People seem to say nice things about Lesley and Denise, although my fiance and I never spoke with them. Henry was our sales rep, and it was not a good business relationship at all. I later spoke with John Pollard, who posts here as JohnQuixote, and he was wonderful, and said that our experience was a total aberration and that "steps had been taken."

Sciencegeek, I am so sorry again that yuo had such a lousy time on your ring
8.gif

Thank you
30.gif
I ADORE the dress. Ever since the wedding, I''ve been telling people to not be surprised if I get married in a red dress, only 1/2 joking b/c I honestly don''t think I could wear anything more beautiful....I just love it. I have to find a good place to wear it--or hope that one of my films gets into a good festival so I can wear it to some schmancy premiere
3.gif

Actually, it''s funny--my bf FELL IN LOVE....with the dress. A little scary, even. When we parted ways in ATL, he took the dress w/ him back to CA at the last minute b/c I knew it should end up there rather than getting squished here in NY. And for around 10 days thereafter, every time we spoke I''d say, "so, did you take the dress to the cleaner''s yet?" and he''d kind of hem and haw and sheepishly admit that he''d just kind of unzipped the garment bag to LOOK at it for a while... but he''d take it in eventually! I have joked, in fact, that he''d propose to the dress first!

Wow....so many lovely pictures! (You''re all young pups!). It''s always nice to know who you are speaking/sharing experiences with. Thanks for sharing goils! I will have to find one of us and more importantly learn how to attach them here. hehe. From the sounds of it a few people have had issues in that department.

BluesRoses - LOVE the dress! I saw your dress on the original post (as a lurker) and thought that it was stunning! Still think it''s stunning. Starting worrying about your BF when he purchases a mannequin so that the dress may be worn in your absence. hehe. JK.
31.gif

I haven''t shared much of our experience, but things are progressing. Over New Years we were out of town & sat down with a friend that manages a B&M. We asked him to start looking for a center stone. That was on the 3rd. On the 4th, my BF received an email from his mom regarding his horoscope for the year. She does this every year at the beginning of the year. Well, his horoscope stated that he has negative forces against him the next six months & that he should avoid making major purchases & take care with friendships. He speaks with his mom, she advises we should hold off getting engaged until June. After a few discussions and I fully supporting him whatever he decides to do (although it was killing me), he decided to continue with the search. Hoorah! The B&M found one, but it was a significant difference in price & quality. How does one kindly tell a friend that while we appreciate their help, the prices are a little steep? (Without damaging the friendship or the friend taking it personally?).

That''s it....hope all is well for all of the other LIW...especially after last week!

BTW...loved the idea of the dogs as the ring bearers......We have two miniature german schnauzers.....if we didn''t have to worry about them being distracted, wouldn''t that be grand of them to walk down the isle?

Last one.....Do you think it is better to look for a stone after Vday...better selection? I imagine there is quite a demand for the stones at the moment.

Science- I am so sorry to hear that you have had such bad experiences with whiteflash- I am actually dealing with them now, and things seem to be going smoothly- i am dealing with Denise- and I hope it continues to go along OK. If you don''t mind sharing what were your problems were, it might help those of us who are dealing with/thinking about dealing with them. If you are not at that space yet to share- s''ok too.

Perhaps John can get things to a satisfactory space- if not, definitely do what will make you feel perfect about your ring....no need to have bad thoughts associated with it from the start.

Teebee -- Congratulations! Your ring is so pretty
9.gif
I''m very impressed that you waited until your bf, excuse me...FIANCE, came home!

DG -- Happy to hear you''ve made up with your gf. Resolving issues long distance can be so complicated. I hate it...

Blueroses -- I think I''ve seen that wedding reception pic before, the dress is beautiful. I love that color red, and it looks really good on you.

Sciencegeek -- sorry about your ring. Its so upsetting to hear about when what should be a happy, exciting thing turns into something stressful. I hope you get the ring of your dreams soon

I forget who asked, but about skin, I always had problems but then started using Dermalogica Anti-Bac wash and its worked really well for me. Its a little pricey tho.

Oh well, this isnt the best pic, but the best one I currently have on my computer. Its from a senior cruise before we graduated college:

Blue824, you two look so much better in the non-squished version!!
9.gif

blueroses, I''ve said it before and I''ll say it again: you two make an adorable couple. And you''re right, that is a fantastic dress! And of COURSE you have to post pics of the golden ringbearers. I think Kyle (and everybody) would make just a *little* fun of me if I actually let my dog walk down the aisle, but he is definitely going to be there, escorted to his place of honor in the front row next to my parents!!
11.gif
2.gif

sciencegeek, so
7.gif
about your ring, what is wrong, just bad artists'' conception or was it poorly done?

Nooner''s Mom, I don''t think the selection''s going to be any better after V-day, although the prices *might* drop. I say might, because the trend has been for prices to climb...and climb...and climb... with no end in sight. So all the better reason to buy NOW!!

hello all of you gorgeous people! i think the pics are sooo cool too. i will try to post one of me and FI to be when i get home from class (not sure how he would feel about me sharing his picture, but he’ll never know)

SJS- that''s sooo exciting that you and your future hubby are going to have babies soon! with this whole med school thing, i don''t think we''ll be having any for 10 years maybe... i guess we''ll see! i keep hoping my bf''s older sister will have one since she''s been married for 1.5 yrs now, but we''re not even sure if she WANTS a baby. and all of my siblings are young, so they better not be having a kid anytime soon! Oh yeah, and I can even see a little leo dicaprio in your picture, definitely in the eyes! You guys are adorable!

wow teebee! are you absolutely DYING?!?!? That stone is gorgeous…

Diamondgeezer- glad everything was worked out. But I have to say I’m with GG, make sure you know exactly why this happened so hopefully everything can be addressed…

i''m still questioning what size of diamond i need (errrr want) so i think i will make my bf take me shopping again :D i have tiny hands, 3.5 size ring finger, and i''m really just petite. i was thinking about 2 ct, but maybe that would even be too big. but at least i know i don''t need anything larger than 2!

cute330xigrl- that is tooooo funny! even the spammers are trying to torture us these days i guess

GG- it really does seem that your bf has finally learned the meaning of SOON! toooo exciting :)

blueroses- that BM dress is gorgeous! that''s cuuute that your bf likes the dress so much! sounds like it reminds him of YOU really :) i have these fleece pj pants that i wear sometimes that are really big on me, and every time i would not see him for a couple days, i came home to him WEARING THEM! boys are not as tough as they would have us think...
1.gif
(oh and you guys are adorable!)

crap... i''m sure i''ve missed people, but i have to get ready for class now... more later! oh, you know, i really think it would be great if leonid could give us our own board (can''t remember who suggested it first). it''s so hard to keep us this way and remember where i was!

blueroses - that really is a beautiful gown! Lucky you that the bride paid for it! I really like the color though.. but I would never want red for my wedding. Its just not "me" i''ve purchased several red shirts that I''ve only worn like once.. because i look at myself in the mirror and am just like "red is NOT my color"

I really love all the pics.. i forgot to mention before how cute everybody''s boys are! We sure are lucky girls around this place..

Oh my I just CAN''T keep up with all of the posts!!!! where to start!?!??!

First I want to agree that the pictures are a GREAT idea!!!! I love seeing the couples and putting names to faces! Blueroses -- I completely imagined blond California girl all along -- funny how you "create" images in your head! EVERYone is SO cute!!!!!! I agree about rfath -- you and and your man look BADA**!! Movie material!!!!
Lovey -- I love the feather -- you guys look like you''re having a blast -- and your man looks JUST like my friend Seth! weird!!!

Jenwill & Sciencegeek -- I fell in love with the asscher months and months ago, but abanded the search for a couple of reasons -- one being the lack of "size" for the carat. I knew we were looking in the 1.2 - 1.5 ct. wt, range, and you just lose SO much diameter!! The other major reason was that so many of the generics looked more like squared off emeralds and less like asschers -- and you definitely can''t go by the numbers with that cut. We considered the Royal Asscher -- wow. that''s what I really really really wanted!!! But we would have had to go with a 1 ct max, and they look like .75. I just couldn''t bear it!!!!!!!! and to tell you the truth, once I found out that I could get a cushion with chunky old-school facets like I LOVE I knew that''s what I wanted! Man. still love those asschers though!! always chance for a right hand ring in the future!! :)

Teebee-- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are officially a fiancee! how exciting!!!! Your pics look awesome -- can''t wait to see it on your FINGER!

Blueroses -- I agree, that dress is WOW!!! I would love to get a better look at it -- do you have another pic?? You are your guy are SO cute!! Where was the wedding in Atlanta? That''s where I am -- just curious!! Mine won''t be anywhere fancy like that -- probably at one of the historic homes in Roswell, if we don''t do the destination thing. We are still up in the air!!!!!

Blue824 -- I just started using dermologica recently also and I absolutely love it! My skin is SO sensitve! I dont have bad breakouts, but my face stings with most products (even the most "sensitive" ones) -- and gets red. I tried for YEARS to find something that doesn''t irritate my face, and this is literally the first thing that has worked consistently. I use the calming cleanser for face and eyes, the daily microfoliant, the skin smoothing cream and the soothing booster (when necessary -- reduces redness almost immediately).

Noonersmom -- thank goodness he didn''t listen to his mom on that horoscope thing!! I would have DIED if my honey put off the search for 6 months over a horoscope -- I just don''t have that kind of patience!! lol!! Keep us posted on that search!

Fortheloveofroses -- I AM SO EXCITED!!! The setting should be here ANY TIME (I had him send it to my office) -- and I''m just shaking with nervous energy!!! I hope I love it as much as I think I will!! Bill (of Pearlmans, for everyone else) has been SO wonderful and I absolutely adore him already!! What a treasure we''ve found! He''s a KEEPER!

omg omg omg..... I keep harrassing the receptionist to see if UPS has come yet!! Bill just said it would be here this morning -- and i think the usual deliveries are 8am or 10am, right? i dunno!!! man o man i''m excited!!

EVERYONE -- I''m so happy to hear that this week is "seeming" better for everyone!! last week was a mess! blech! Keep posting pics! more more!!

wow a lot of posting since I went to sleep last night...

blueroses: I have seriously been thinking about that ring non-stop since I saw it yesterday. I haven''t sent the BF the pics yet (waiting until this weekend when they can have his undivided attention), but I hope he is in love with it as much as I am. Good luck with the packing and the move...I''ll be doing that in about a month (but mine is just a local move).

teebee: I''ll be sure to ask for Lesley...she is the one that posted the pics of the wax molds I saw.

sg: I''m sorry you had a bad WF experience, but I''m sure that when you get your final ring it will be perfect.

Blue824: y''all are so cute!!!

icekid: your fingers are half the size of mine. I bet a 2ct on you would look like a 5ct!

I love it when people get crossed off the list and added on b/c I feel like since I''m moving closer to the top of the list, that I might actually engaged sooner...wishful thinking!

Man, you guys write up a storm at night!

As everyone else has said, everyones pictures are very cute and its nice to put faces to names... i will need to find a picture of us to post.

Blueroses - that is a great BM dress and definatly looks like it could be worn again! Im trying to find a dress that can definatly be worn again and cheap for my BMs!

To those that said they cant fit the display rings on their fingers, i very rarely was able to get them down over my knuckle. It did make it a little hard to picture, but id just set it on my knuckle and cover up the bottom of my hand with the other to help visualize a little better! Hope this can help you all.

36.gif
36.gif
CONGRATULATIONS TEEBEE!!!!
36.gif
36.gif

Cant wait to see the hand pics... we dont care if they are bad/blurry/crooked, we just want to see it on your hand!!!

Again, how to keep up with these posts? (By avoiding work, that''s how).

SJS - Babies!!!! Haha, I too am thinking about kids, but I don''t think we''ll get married in 2005, and we have to buy a house before I''d start, so it may be 2006 or 2007 before I''ve actually started.
38.gif
Being an adult seems to be a lot about patience.
14.gif
I can''t wait to hear about your ring from Perlman''s. Those are very tempting.

blueroses - That dress is so stunning. I actually have seriously thought about getting married in red as well. I''m just not a big fluffy white dress kind of girl, and on top of that, I''m a bargain shopper and the markup on wedding dresses is just ridiculous. Go in another color and you get so much more dress for your buck. I suppose that''s not very romantic though. All of our guys seem to be going the goatee route (which I love). Lucky us! You two are a gorgeous couple.

sciencegeek: I''m so sorry it''s not working out well, I would hate to have those bad feelings in what should be such an exciting time. I''d appreciate you sharing your ring saga when you''re up to it, since I''m considering whiteflash for my ring.

Molson: Your comment about your boyfriend reminded me of a pic some friends gave us for Christmas, it''s a framed pic of my boyfriend asleep after Thanksgiving dinner with a drink in his hand. It has a prized place on our mantle. If I have time to scan or can get the digital copy I''ll post it. Then you don''t have to feel bad about posting a drunk pic.

JCJD: Suuuuuuuure you''re not naked.
31.gif
Cute pic either way!

Noonersmom: Welcome! I like the idea of dog-ring bearers, but I only have cats. Think that would work? I actually pondered the logistics of that last night, and nothing pretty came to mind, just a crapload of fur flying.
3.gif
As for the selection post-V-Day - I have no idea. I''m rather new to this diamond obsession.

Blue824: Another handsome couple. I always wished I could wear a skirt like that, but as a very strange man I used to know told me: I have wonderful childbearing hips. []

rfath: Do you guys race mini''s? How fun! I ride motorcycles and may look into racing sportbikes on a track. I know the real reason for that pic - it''s not sunscreen it''s helmet-hair.
2.gif

Jenwill: I don''t know enough about Asschers to give useful feedback based on numbers. They are gorgeous stones though!

Blingqueen: Yes, this board is tough to keep up with, huh? I''m glad your bf makes you so happy!

Diamondgeezer: While I am glad you two are talking again, honesty is too important of a part of a relationship to gloss over her refusal to come clean with you about her home address. Something is fishy. You seem like such a wonderfully caring, loving, and trusting person, you deserve the same thing in a wife.

GG:

And finally Teebee:

16.gif
YAAYAYAY! Lucky you, your ring is gawgeous. I am leaning towards a very similar one.

And now, a funny story. Last night when I got home I mentioned some different styles that I''d been thinking about and he said that he''d been thinking too, and he wants me as involved in the picking out process as I want to be since I''m having so much fun with it (which is a nice thing to say since he''d felt a little like it was stealing his thunder before). Then this morning I said something else about rings while we were getting ready for work, and he just looked at me and said, wow, you really are thinking about this all the time aren''t you? No wonder you were going crazy! Haha. Yup.

Also, we had a really nice talk about what engagement really means to us. Like, why do it...what would be different? He said for him it was the added assurance that I was in this for the long-haul, that if we had a tiff he didn''t have to worry about me running off before we could work it through (I have a tendency to globalize and shut down). For me it''s kind of more like a) how freaking lucky am I that this absolutely amazing human being has picked me?! b) it''s a tangible commitment that will remind me of a wonderful period in my life. I have been so ridiculously happy with him since we met, and I want something physical to remind me of that. I suppose that''s the difference between guys and girls? But I''m curious what other people would say.

And now, this excessively long post is over, have a great day all!

sciencegeek - we only look tough because we had no sleep the night before

. Those sunglasses probably don''t help either, but they''re the only ones that''ll fit in those helmets! I''ve only been drag-racing once, but LOVE the track courses (120mph flat out with the supercharger _screaming_ like a squirrel on crack!). A bit nervous now that I''ve wrecked my car there, but, well.. that was a risk that I took.

Can I ask y''all for some positive thoughts? Fiance''s grandmother ended up in the emergency room yesterday with acute diverticulitis. They were going to do emergency surgery, but had no recovery rooms available... so they''re loading her up with antibiotics and hoping that there''s not a perforation in her intestines. To make things worse, her heart stopped while she was there - fortunately one of the residents was wandering past and saw it happen. So she''s no longer really a surgical candidate. She''s the most wonderful woman - 86 and still driving in NYC. Fiance about lost it last night when he got the message that she was going to try to hold on to see him get married.

Yay for couple pics! You ladies and your boys are just gorgeous!

JCJD - that picture is just scandalous, but you two look so very much in love, and are quite beautiful together!

lovey - you guys are actually how I pictured . . . lovely couple and extremely well-matched!

teebee - congrats on getting crossed off the list! Woohoo!

rfath - the track, you say? My b/f and I are car nuts. I''ve been a member of one SCCA or another since I was 16, and have only since graduated down to a non-trackworthy car. My poor Audi Cabrioletdubbed the lead-sled by my BF and our housemate. It does have style though.

jenwill - could one of those stones be the one? I''ve bookmarked the thread and will be keeping track, of the progress. I''m dying to see the Sarin one #1 - and I actually like a bit of fl as well. Good luck!

Melissa - you two are so very cute together! Nice ring!

I forgot to tell you ladies . . . BF and I ordered Chinese, and we do this thing that my family has always done with fortune cookies. Crack the cookie then pass to the right and it is now that person''s fortune. I opened mine and it was something generic like "You have an appreciation for beauty in all things." Weston opened his, got this huge smile on his face, and said "LOOK!" and it said "You and your spouse will live a happy life together". Awwww.

I''m in a pic sharing kind of mood . . . a pic of us from when we first started dating . . . June of 02 or something.

rfath - good thoughts are prayers to your FI''s grandmother. My mom has diverticulitis and has spent some time in the hospital for it. I know it can be very painful. I hope she improves so she can have her surgery!

WOW! Where to start everyone. You gorgeous girls! I have to say that the LIW have excellent taste in SO. I love the pics! It makes this board so much less anonymous. If we are going to spill our guts out, it is good to have some an idea of who we are talking to!

GG: Love the pic. Looks like an engagement pic. And I soooo thought you were tall and blond. I think that was the major misconception

Teebee: Congrats!! You are a fiance. HAND PICS PLEASE!!!! Be kind!!

rfath: I love your big helmet. And your expression. And you manage to look good anyways

Lauren: Love the black and white pic. I want some black and white pics!

Ok me. I'm posting the only pic of me from holidays that doesn't look terrible. I can't handle a camera flash. I have tons of pictures with my eyes closed, or squinting. My family says this is the only pic that looks like me in real life.

And this is one of me and my bf (or ex??) still undefined. But we still love each other so I guess its ok.

Ally you are so tiny and gorgeous!!! And your BF? is very nice to look at too...sounds to me like you have nothing to worry about.

I wasn''t going to post a pic b/c I didn''t want to jinx anything, but I''m giving into the peer pressure. This is a picture of us from Labor Day weekend (I had a hard time picking one)...

Lauren - Don''t you tell me about scandalous pictures now!!

Just kidding!!! Cute fun picture of you two!

Yay teebee!!!!! Are you glad you waited till he came home to open the boxes? Congratulations on your ENGAGEMENT!!!!!!!! And welcome to the LIW Alumni Club!!!

blueroses - You two are so cute!!! And it''s a gorgeous dress on you! My sister (MOH) picked out a wine red for the BM dresses, so a bit darker than your dress. I think it''ll be very flattering on all my girls too. What do you ladies think of weddings where the BM''s match in color but not in style? Since my BM''s are scattered throughout the country (NE, IL, VA, MO) I think that''s the easiest option (1 - to make them not hate me, 2 - to take that stress off of me and my sister) if they don''t all agree to the style my sis picks out.

NoonersMom - are you excited about January 17th coming up???? Great day- remember!

rfath - I don''t see why you don''t like pics of yourself - you''re beautiful!!! And what about your fiance?!? You two make a beautiful couple!

Melissa - Love that picture of the two of you!! Your ring just screams - LOOK AT ME!!!

Just the way it should! For my youngest stepsister''s wedding, the middle stepsis wore a MOH dress a lot like yours in the pic. It was pouffier, but still very pretty!

Blue - I agree with GG - you guys are much cuter when you''re not squished!!

Lovey - You might be drunk and doing silly things with your hair, but you two look so happy!

GG - I''m so excited for you! It sounds like it might actually be girl-soon for you!! BUT DON''T GET YOUR HOPES UP!!!!!!!! TRUST ME!!!!! LOL!! But I''m so excited!!!!!! So cute about your doggy and his place of honor at your wedding! I don''t remember if I''ve mentioned this before, but I had a golden for about 15 years before she died almost 2 years ago. She was so beautiful and sweet, even up to the very end. Goldens have so much love in them!

I can''t keep up, so if I didn''t respond to you or something, it''s not because I don''t like you!!!
OK, I''ll post this picture of the Christmas formal to prove I''m really wearing a dress! I did this weird pose and my friends were like "That''s so CUTE!!!! FREEZE!!!" so FI is laughing up a storm. And my pantyhose were digging into my stomach so I look all pudgy, and my dress stuck on my heel...... Oh well - enjoy!

Oh yeah!!! For the original Anxious ladies, this is the black dress I was talking about - with the sunburst beading pattern and huge side slit. Melissa might remember... GG? Ginger?
