Just bought this diamond

I bought it without any pictures or ideal scope images. Does anyone have any thoughts on it? Would you buy a HCA 1.0 diamond for an engagement ring? I'll post pics when I receive it. 487110337.png

THE DIAMOND YOU BOUGHT HAS AN HEART AND ARROW CUTTING WHICH IS FINEST CUTTING IN THE INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW AND ALSO D COLOR IN AS GROWN GOODS IS ALSO RARE SO YOU GOT A GREAT DEAL

It looks great on paper! Who did you purchase from and do they offer a full refund if you’re not happy with it?

Love the proportions and angles.
You picked one that should have some amazing fire under direct lighting conditions.

Here's the direct link to your grading report, and you can download the high resolution PDF near the bottom:

Please post some pictures/videos once you get it!

I would only buy a stone without imaging if the seller has a great return/refund policy.

Even when the numbers look great, it's still possible for the arrows to appear twisted or uneven. From what I've seen, the numbers express a probability and not a guarantee of a diamond's cut quality.

I bought it from Novita Diamonds, they offer a 30 day refund period.

It looks great on paper but I would never buy a diamond without pictures. Did you purchase it loose or will it be delivered in a ring?

It will.be delivered in a ring. Will I still be able to assess the quality of the diamond properly if it is mounted in a ring?

Even if a diamond has perfect angles and certified hearts & arrows, is it still possible for it to have issues?

1. Glad they have a return policy.

2. Absolutely - It's preferred to see it in a setting, since a diamond that exhibits light leakage will usually show it to a much greater degree since it will effectively block light from being able to enter the pavilion area giving a false sense of a bright and fiery diamond. A properly cut diamond will always reflect a majority of light that enters the crown and table area back out the way it goes in.

3. Possibly, and ensuring things like proper/recommended proportions and angles, a report by a reputable grading lab, and buying from a trustworthy seller helps to minimize the risk when buying sight-unseen or online, which is becoming an ever-increasing way of conducting diamond purchase transactions.
The odds are certainly in your favor that your diamond will be a beautiful one!

I am not an expert, just a fan of diamonds, but I'll share my perspective:

-I do not know what IGI means when they say Hearts and Arrows so I don't know how much the phrase "certified hearts and arrows" is worth without a picture to prove it.

-Perfect angles don't exist. There's a range of complimentary angles that result in awesome stones. The numbers given on a cert are averaged so some facets may be off and produce a pattern that's not crisp and even.

People have posted pics of stones that looked great on paper but had twisted/uneven arrows. Some don't mind this type of minor imperfection but others are super picky and opt to pay a premium for precision cut stones. It's all about what you like and what you want to pay for.

Here's an example of a thread with a similar question. The OP here was trying to understand the difference between great angles and precision cutting. The diamond is gorgeous but not quite perfect.

Excellent points and examples, MrsBlue!
Here is an IGI Gemblog article written by PS's very own John Pollard in regards to the IGI H&A designation on their grading reports:

dasitmane what we're getting at is that you purchased a low risk diamond because of the criteria depicted in the grading report.
Is it an absolute guarantee of a perfectly performing diamond? No.
There are no guarantees, just as GIA 3X isn't a sure-fire guarantee. But, given the evidence, you've minimized a lot of risk for getting a dud.
If I had to state odds of you getting a diamond that will be just fine, then I'd say you are at a ninety-nine percent.
Be exuberant, yet cautiously optimistic: always remain vigilant with any online diamond purchase, the same if it's a diamond that you have inspected multiple times in person under a limited environment of a jewelry store.

You have a bit of a test drive period because of the dealer's return policy which gives you ample time to assess it under a variety of lighting conditions to formulate a conclusion whether or not it pleases your eyes.
