I've reached the end of the internet and still no ring.

Has anyone else completely overwhelmed themselves searching for the one? (I'm sure I know the answer here!)

So far, I've found the following cool things online:

-my cat
-my clothing
-some best friends
-my man

Why can't I locate my ring? :)

I think my guy is waiting for an inkling from me because I've made it clear I am pretty darn picky about this ring business.

We did go try on rings at a local chain a couple of weeks ago. I didn't love the selection and now I feel even more worried I won't find my dream sparkler.

Maybe if I list out what I am searching for - someone may have a suggestion? I am planning to check out more jewelry stores but I feel like there is more selection online. I've looked on Google, JamesAllen, Blue Nile, TrumpetandHorn, Costco, ShaneCo, etc.

Must haves:
round diamond
platinum
low profile (bezel? something flat? bezel halo? something I don't know the term for?)

Considering:
1. New or antique

2. Just wearing one all encompassing ring instead of an engagement ring + wedding band.
In my mind, this could be a band that tapers in the back (for comfort), a cluster with a larger center stone, maybe some kind of multi-stone? Very much prefer it to be flat across the hand. Not high profile.

3. Wearing a more traditional combo (example: bezel set halo + eternity band).

I am open to any decent quality stones that are "eye clean" <--- saw that used earlier here, lol.

Budget: $15k (USD) max

If I do get closer to the max budget, I would prefer something with a center stone around 1.5 carats.

If anyone is bored and feels like posting suggestions - hey, I'd like that!

(I hope this post isn't against the rules. I checked out the FAQ/etc and I think it is allowed.)

You've come to the right place... I suspect several helpful PS members will be along shortly.

I also noticed your list of what you have already found online:

-my cat
-my clothing
-some best friends
-my man

...what a great time to be alive! :)

What is your lifestyle like? Do you exercise a lot? Garden?
What is your overall style like? Jeans and a t shirt, business wear? Preppy? Boho? Fancy?
What other jewelry do you wear regularly? Earrings? Gold, white gold, silver? Colored gemstones?

From your post it sounds like you want something low-profile and bezelled (or similar), with round diamond(s), and that you're open to modern or antique.

I went to several website and found some different rings which may/may not appeal to you. But maybe by looking and commenting on why you do/don't like any of them, it will help you (and us) narrow down your setting preferences a little.

It sounds like size/carat weight will depend on the setting you choose and whether there is just one center stone or more than one diamond, but do you have diamond color/clarity preferences?

And yes, it is easy to be overwhelmed. I am hoping to reset my ring (so stones are done! that isn't even part of my equation!) and I have it narrowed down to either a vintage style ring with geometric elements and bead set side stones or a vintage style setting with botanical elements (leaf shapes in the gallery and on the shoulders.) I probably have 85 rings pinned on Pinterest & multiple folders of ring pics on my phone.
I have to say I wish there was a ring I could look at and say I want THAT! As that seems much easier than trying to build the perfect setting from scratch.

Yeah, I think you haven't been looking in the right places for the most gorgeous rings! Some have been already named, and I'll add a few more.

https://www.victorcanera.com/rings/engagement

https://www.facebook.com/cvbinspired/?fref=ts

http://www.stevenkirsch.com/the-evidence/

http://www.whiteflash.com/ (look under engagement rings and designer rings)

Decide on the setting first, and once you narrow that down, you may buy the diamond from that vendor (such as in the case of Victor Canera or Whiteflash), or we can find stones at other top vendors to be set elsewhere.

I think since I started this post lots of others have chimed in, so sorry if this has already been shown, but from Jewels by Grace:

http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/new-additions/1-19ct-modern-round-brilliant-diamond-wedding-set-from-james-meyer-platinum#.V0Zz5GMZ79E

It's platinum, bezel set, and gorgeous. Not sure if you are ok with pre-loved, but I've admired this set for a while so just wanted you to see it :)

This is very simple, but I love the sleek lines of it. Definitely lower end of your budget, but thought it couldn't hurt as another choice: http://www.diamondsbylauren.com/index.php/jewelry/loose-diamond-90ct-round-brilliant-kvs2-gia-triple-ex-gorgeous-stone-r4308

Your description brought to mind Sholdt settings - we've seen a lot of Sholdt beauties here!

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-sholdt-thread.175520/

If you want to go pre-owned, Love Affair Diamonds has two Sholdt rings:

http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/1...ldt-channel-set-diamond-semi-bezel-egl-k-vs2/
http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/1...mond-in-engraved-sholdt-semi-bezel-egl-j-vs2/

If you want more Sholdt options but would like one-stop shopping, Brian Gavin Diamonds carries Sholdt settings - although the setting names they use sometimes differ from those Sholdt uses.

I am a casual girl. I'm a jeans and tee type with nice accessories, if that makes sense.

A touch of prep. I'm #basic, lol.

Typical jewelry - silver monogrammed ring. Large silver ball stud earrings. Maybe pearls.

Very simple - I don't like lots of jewelry at once, or even dangly earrings very much.

I do not have a Pinterest account, sorry!

I like platinum but did recently decide to delve into yellow gold. (Wish list: yellow gold knot earrings or the Elsa Peretti gold mini bean necklace - for examples!)

Example outfit I would commonly wear:

gray or black v-neck t-shirt
dark denim jeggings or jeans
Longchamp or LV neverfull
silver jewelry

Not sure if this helps with anything at all - but like most people, I will chat about myself! (Haha!) :twirl:

I can't tell what I've deleted (getting used to this forum!) but I do like the first and last examples you posted.

I am torn because I do love the bezel halo - but in my heart I will wonder if I should have tried harder to find a single, all-encompassing ring?

I am open, though!

I am going to figure out how to post pics so I can try to show everyone what I am talking about.

Thank you! I am definitely okay with a pre-loved ring, but I feel as if the first example is still up too high? I have it in my head that it has to sit low.

I like the second one, but I would probably have to put a band with it to make it look complete?
I'd feel like it is missing something if it was my only/single ring?

Why am I obsessing about having just one ring to represent everything? I just think it would be kind of cool and also really freeing and comfortable. I was married once before and had an antique setting + an eternity band.

I loved them both very much and did find them to be comfortable. I guess, in part, I am just trying for a whole different look this time.

(But who can hate an eternity band? I am still open to any gorgeous two-ring combo.)

How about an antique round stone or a modern round stone set in one of these;

http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/the-artemis-bezel-setting/

http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/the-amanda-solitaire-setting/

http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/the-zoe-solitaire-setting/

http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/the-casablanca-halo-setting/

The other thing is that if you have images pinned you could probably get Erica and Caysie to create something based on a couple of your favourite images for you.

A new website that google didn't produce for me! Thanks!

I am drawn to the first one.

Do you think it could stand alone (is there a term for this here? Lol) - or would it look perpetually engaged to most?

I wonder if I could get it in all platinum?

Aside, I am so very nervous about getting a ring made. BF said he would do whatever I want - but I worry I would go that route and feel disappointment and wish I'd just bought something already made. I know there are CAD machines and you can test samples, etc.

I just worry it would still pinch my finger or something unforseen would be discovered (it's spins to one side on my particular finger, or it feels weird, makes my finger sweat - or WHO KNOWS?) It's just the mind of an anxious worrier at play here! :)

When I was browsing last night I kept seeing your posts. As I was typing I thought - "maybe gypsy will chime in?" Haha!

Thanks for the loose diamond info. I think that is the most overwhelming part - really knowing WHERE to get stone options, or IF your ring has a good one. Once I find a setting I can ask you guys if the diamond is good enough or if I should keep searching.

I feel like the rings you posted are beautiful but still sit too high up for me.

But - the Thea Halo one? Even though it isn't as flat as I'd prefer - it's an example of a style of ring I *think* could stand alone and not need some sort of eternity band/5-stone/plain band to accompany it?

I'm still working on posting some pics to ask about standalone styles.

I think you're right - to keep worrying about locating the setting and then worry about the diamond. WhiteFlash and VC look like they have a lot of variety.

I don't think the Sholdts are for me, but WOW - there are some absolute rocks in that link. So pretty.

I think I am able to also rule out traditional 3 stone rings. I could maybe do some kind of 3-stone bezel or something (clusters, etc), but I feel the traditional version is not my style.

It's helpful to be able to narrow somewhat! :)

gypsy - this one is pretty. I feel like this could be worn solo?

I wonder if it is in my budget (and could fit) a stone 1.5 carat.

Oh snap - I am digging this one, too:

http://www.beverleyk.com/bridal/mounts/r10675-a-d-d-m.html

Think it looks too "chippy" or complicated/busy? Meaning, there are so many little things going on?

I kind of like that it has an east/west shape going on. (as much as a setting can with a round stone, lol)

I guess I am also basic in the sense that I'd like as big a round stone as possible (affordable) that is still eye clean.

So, I am not yet sure what that means as far as capping the price of the setting.

I didn't get a chance to reply to everyone but I did click all of the links and I do appreciate the help!

I'll be back later. Off to a meeting.

I did want to ask all of you about these rings:

1. general feedback? I understand that rings are so personal, but someone told me this one looks like a "class ring" - which I hate to say caused me a little doubt.

I would want this with a 1.5 center stone. (Maybe that makes it better? Maybe worse?)

http://erstwhilejewelry.com/products/90-carat-vintage-art-deco-engagement-ring

2. What about this one? I think that stone looks really yellow - and I wonder if it is overpriced or just about right?

I did contact them and they said it they could make me a replica setting in platinum (different center stone would be needed).

http://raymondleejewelers.net/products/products-page/diamondsdiamond-engagement-rings/vintage-style-1-52ct-old-european-cut-diamond-engagement-ring/

I think these are both examples of rings that wouldn't necessarily need/fit a band because of the shape. I could just wear it as an everything ring. (Not just an engagement ring). Plus I am sure I could always convince the BF to buy me a pretty band later if I wanted to wear a band alone. :)

Looking for a critique of these rings and/or links to other rings that could be alternate or even improved versions?

So you are looking for a 1.5 ct OEC in a vintage inspired halo/bezel setting, possibly with a wider band or enough oomph to carry alone without a second band.

I just peeked at Jewels by Grace and she has several beautiful halo vintage rings on her website now. And she has some incredible loose OECs.
Erika Winters Caroline is a beautiful setting on her site. There are also several other beautiful halos/bezels. Erika's settings are perfection. I would not hesitate to recommend work with Grace or Erika.
