The pink diamond does look perfect!! Are you planning on asking your jeweler to fix the problems? You should be 100% happy and your jeweler should be fixing these issues.

I wasn't planning on it. The claw prongs I was going to ask my GF if she would prefer claw prongs.

oH my goodness..... it has only been a week!!!!!

I had to send it back to get a few things changed, but they are now on holidays for 3 weeks, but managed to get it back to them before they left for holidays.

After purchasing the diamond in Jan 2013, and waiting 4 months to see the ring, i thought what is another 3 weeks. i had it for less than 12 hours and maybe for an hour to 'enjoy' it on my finger, the rest of the time critique- ing it and then sending it back in the box.


Ho hum.... I am sure the next 2 weeks will fly by and i will be fine! LOL. I just hope that they have corrected, well, remade really; to the specifications we had discussed. The corrections are, in the whole scheme of things, minor. It was just ashamed that it had to be remade instead of a tweak here or a tweak there.


Oh well.... back to work!

Welp after some back and forth and a great deal of understanding from wf and myself, I've taken the leap and now have my CAD images.

They couldn't do an exact replica which I'm fine with, but they are attempting to hit some of the key features that drew me to the HOF Jubilation setting. I'd have to say I'm about 60% happy with the first concept.

Now some of my dissatisfaction I think comes from some of the subtle design features of the HOF head and the lack of any special curvy contours on the concept's prongs. I'd like to tell myself that due to the nature of the CAD process, such subtle features are likely very difficult to display but I feel if I don't voice some kind of concern, my desires may get lost in the shuffle.

My second slight dissatisfaction comes with the heart. While I mentioned on the last page that I liked how the gallery rail with the prongs made a subtle heart, after my discussion with the VP at WF and his thoughts, we were attempting to make a more intentional but yet still subtle heart. I feel that maybe the one they drew up is a little too intentional. Now again, that may just be due to the nature of the CAD and having to have things bulkier and sharper for polishing purpose and I may really like it after I have a few minor things tweaked, but its just an initial concern.

I think my first initial change I have is with the shoulders(forgive me, ring terminology) I think I'd want them to start a little further out and also curve a little more up and out so as to not be so concave before it attaches to the gallery rails on the side. My second possible change would be to the tips of the prongs. They are rounded like I want, but appear more finger tip like where as the inspired ring is more cupping(again terminology) almost like a palm cradling the tip.

All in all I'm happy with it and open to thoughts and suggestions.

Chadwick- It would probably be best if you started your own thread on this for RT.

However with that said.

-I would ask them to claw the prongs. I'm not a fan of peg prongs and inf your inspiration photo they look overpowering and completely overwhelm the center diamond. In the WF version they are peg prongs which is an imporvement but I would ask for some delicate claw prongs instead.

-I'm not a fan of hearts in my jeweler- it is too cutesy. I would take it out and just have it be more of a slope line. Forget the heart competly.

-I disagree about the shoulders and think they look elegant. If you start them out further it might look like your diamond sits too high up. This is personal preference but I like where it is- more classic and elegant.

- Overall except for the heart I actually think WF did a pretty close rendition to your inspiration picture.

thats what i was thinking! and the heart actually looks better than the one in the HOF setting....I agree im not usually a fan of hearts either. I think if she wants it to look like a hearts the setting looks perfect, excepts i would add the claw prongs (they protect those pointy edges without being too bulky)

YAY! it came in. These are lousy shots, but I wanted to at least let those waiting along with me that the projects do get done!

Sorry for the unclear pics - and i noticed how dirty the ring is (oops) Guess I better keep my day job cuz I ain't going to make it as a ring photographer. The binder clip is the office version of a flower shot >tee hee<. The pink is a reflection of my phone cover.

Huge shout out to Quest in Virginia - Pete was absolutely wonderful to work with. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a custom design.

Sorry, late on the updates. They aren't good. I don't know where the communication breakdown happened, but it looks like I'm going for ring #3.

I have to say that while this has been an incredibly frustrating experience - ERD has been AMAZING at making sure I'm happy and that we get the design 100% correct.

But ya. I'm disappointed. And I'm wishing I had just accepted the changes they made (unasked) to the first version. While it wasn't what I thought I wanted - it's grown on me and I'm starting to worry that what I want can't be done in 14k rose gold. Too bad they've already taken a hammer to the mis-made ring.

I kinda feel off the wagon here as well.

But my updated CAD came in and I love it!



My original CAD as OK. I liked it but wasn't overly thrilled with it for some reason. I asked for some slight modifications; straightening out the side gallery rails, starting the shoulders a bit soon. I'm glad I did because it made everything else fall into place just perfectly.

Initially I also raised an additional minor concern about the tips of the prongs but I was assured that it would be handled during the setting of the stone but they still tweaked them in the CAD to give me an idea of what they would look like.

I gave them the final OK on friday and can't wait to see it. Given how another pricescoper's ring that greatly resembles mine but in 3 stone/channel form, I'm very optimistic. I'm also very confident that my g/f will love it. Now just when to pop the question....

That looks better. Have you considered double claw prongs? That would look nice too. I just hear people saying to be careful with the corners of princess cuts. Exciting to plan a proposal, good luck!

My eternity from JbEG will be done in the next week.

I have also now decided to keep my 2ct. I have put it in a setting I have been toying around with for awhile. It should be done in 6-8 weeks. It will be a rose gold setting (more pink then peach) with pave and then a WG or PLAT head.

Worst case monday.. c'est la vie.... well, assuming it has left the east coast. I have told the jeweller to harass the postal system as they paid (well, i do in the end) for guaranteed next day delivery!!!
