Can I please pick your brain just for one little thing? I have a white gold ruby ring that I was pretty sure was old I just had it looked at and was told that the or stamp on the inside stands for ostby and Barton from the 1900s does this increase the value of my ring and if so if I'm trying to sell it what should I ask for it's an excellent condition? it also has a stamp inside of the Maltese cross

Ostby & Barton made a lot of rings, frequently with synthetic stones. Your ring could be a real Rose de France (light coloured) Amethyst or it has I'd guess a better than 50% chance of being a synthetic stone.

If it's silver its resale value is $15 to $40.00 if its white gold then $100 to $250.
