I am about to put this sapphire on hold and start paying for it. This is for my engagement ring and I want to hear what you all think. It's unusual but I like that. I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I guess I was all excited and then my mom told me it was really cloudy and she couldn't live with it being that bad and I just didn't see that. I do know that if I get it and hate it I can send it back.

Chrono will you make this a clickable link? I tried like you said to click right after it but nothing happened.

Thank you Maisie!

Well, you already know that I think that this is an extremely cool stone. But, I love this kind of stuff. You can be sure that many people will not, but remember, this is for your ring, and not theirs.

Best of luck with your decision, and your engagement!

ETA- I love the nice size!!

If YOU like it go for it. I kinda agree with mom

, sorry.

Brilliancy of 40% is pretty low for a sapphire...
I don''t mind the multicolor effect, but I would want more sparkle.

Flygirl-it is for sure a good size. I''m almost worried it might be too big?

AB-Thank you.

MTG-I didn''t see many that were blue with a high brilliancy %. Is it just his stones or are the darker ones just not as sparkly.

The color, different but cool, that is the most subjective part, and the only opinion that should matter is yours. I don't see any gray or brown undertones - which is good. I wonder about how dark the stone is being that it is that dark loose (stones darken when set). The cut seems ok to me. Nice size :-). I would not be thrilled with a brilliancy of 40% on a sapphire, I think those inclusions are getting in the way of that. But the unique two color pattern can make up for that.

I would find out how much Ed thinks the stone will darken when it is being set - that would be the biggest deal breaker for me.

Just my thoughts. I would like to know what you end up deciding.

ETA: My sapphire has a cloud in it, not ideal, but the color makes up for it, and a perfectly clear sapphire with that color would have cost me twice as much.

I do agree with you all that my opinion matters most. My point in doing this is that I'm new to colored stones and I need help. While I see something beautiful those with more experience can see what I can't see now...but will down the road when I know more.

LFC-Which inclusions are you talking about? I wish his information listed what types of inclusions there were. When I look at it on the left side it doesn't look cloudy but on the right side I think I see what you guys are seeing. This is hard.

If you want an honest opinion, alright.

I don''t like it at all.

The color and the splotchy look to it are just not my thing. It''s also African and very expensive for such a stone, the color and the clarity.

. . . sorry

Here's a multicolor sapphire that Mich E cut, which I think looks better. It's not for sale, I'm just using it as an example of another multicolor, and it looks much cleaner and probably has more sparkle.

Can he send you other pictures of it?

I do like the color combo which makes this stone pretty cool but the inclusions really do hamper this stone. For the price it''s not worth it. It is an off-the-wall stone(color-wise) which is unusual but you like that. Whatever floats your boat..I equate that stone to a personality of being a little on the wild side and a whole lot of fun!

No hurt feelings TL. I''m clueless as to how much sapphires should cost depending on country.

MTG-I''m not sure who that cutter is but does he often have sapphires? even regular solid ones?

Packrat-There are more pictures listed if you click just below the profile pic so to speak. He said he is traveling right now and can''t do more pics right now.

Amguy-I like ot think of myself as little on the wild side but I think I really just kid myself! What are these inclusions everyone is talking about?!

I've been tossing this one around as well. It looks like it has a butterfly in the middle! It has a higher brilliancy. Thoughts?

I guess the link isn't working.

I circled them. They are very evident when the lighting hits the stone a certain way. More than half the stone''s face is riddled with inclusions.

I see. Thank you. I saw those but didn''t know they were an inclusion. I thought it was because it wasn''t heated. That is very helpful.

I much prefer that one...I think you''ll be unhappy with the first one-too dark and all those inclusions.

I''m not crazy about this one either. The purple color appears to be muddy to me.

Oh jeez..you mean there''s more pictures where it says "more images"? Duh, maybe I should''ve looked a bit closer!

Sooo, I''d have to agree w/the others. I like the other one you posted better than the first one. I like the one MTG posted a lot! Are you looking for a specific color?

Here is a quirky colored sapphire from Gemrite

Thank you. I'm gonna go check that out.

This one is awesome! Beautiful color, nice clarity, and it's cheaper

That one is smaller than what I'm looking for though. I want at least 7mm and while I haven't really found any, I'd love a round.

I like this one too but it's small for it's weight and I think even darker than my original choice.

Not too in love with the wildfish stones myself either. The clarity would be an issue for me as an e-ring. And they''re pricey for what they are, IMO.

Nice stones! I like them both, but the second one looks nicer to me. I'd wonder how dark both of them will be when set.

If you're wanting to go along the blue / green / teal route, there should be plenty of sapphires. I'd be surprised if there wasn't for purple / blue sapphires too.

It seems to be so difficult to find which colour one wants to wear in such a ring! So many options!

You might be best off contacting a cutter to keep an eye our for an appropriate rough for you..that way you could get a round in the size you want :) Don''t know what time constraints you''re under though...

I don''t like the initial one. Looks like someone spilled ink on a perfectly good stone.

TG, you took the words right out of my mouth.
