Whats funny is I suffer DSS about my wifey's diamond and she doesn't suffer from it at all.

Hahaha well my DH and I have a similar thing going on except in reverse. I’m suffering from DSS but he doesn’t see it. Men. Or in your case, women.
We still love them. They just need a good Eyecare professional to help them see the shrinkage.

Jon sells stones he cuts to places like GOG, so I'm not clear why they cannot get one for you. Just because he isn't with GOG doesn't mean he isn't cutting and selling stones...
O.K if LT won't work for you contact people like Grace from Jewels by Grace, Erica at Love Affair Diamonds, GOG and Diamond by Lauren and ask how much they would get for the stone and what their consignment fees are.
Or do what everyone else does mention a price over in preloved so that members only contact you and arrange someone like David Altas or another valuer you know and trust (David is a lovely guy) to act as a independent third party to help you sell it, if you don't want to deal with the exchange of cash and the stone yourself.
I'm in Australia and I've sold stones in the US, so if I can do it, if you really want to sell the stone so can you.
Out of curiosity how much do you have to get back for it?

I Emailed Jon and see what he have to say. I don't mind keeping this Octavia if I can't do an upgrade w/o losing big $$$.

I think it's a good idea to email him and GOG, didn't his family members/children buy him out or take over the store from him? If they gave you a lifetime upgrade buy back warranty when you bought it then I would assume that would be transferrable with the store. Just thinking out loud here.

Sorry to hear of this. I cannot imagine anything more frustrating that this! It always seems so easy "oh, I'll just upgrade in future, no biggie" but the environment is changing. I think that if you sold your stone privately, because it is so valued & admired, you would not lose much money on it. Hey, you can start over. I love that you guys get DSS. LOL Plus, you have an outstanding watch collection on top of your diamonds. SO SO jealous. But seriously, sell the stone privately & start over. I do realize how much strength & fortitude it would take to start over. Do you want to though? Are there man-hole's? You could be the 1st.
