I fell in love with a Padparadscha…then I saw another. Need help evaluating/picking

I found another pad I liked. It came back from AGL yesterday, and hit all the marks—no heat, Ceylon, pinkish Orange Padparadasha. Funny, I notice much more of a window in the photos than in real life. Now I just have to figure out a setting. The ring it came in is a 5 and I’m an 8.96D4DE12-12E2-45F1-8B27-03D0885650A5.jpeg

That is a gorgeous stone!

I am so happy you found your perfect pad! It's beautiful... enjoy!! :appl:

Honestly I like the newest one best. I’m glad it all worked out for you even though it sounds like quite the ordeal. Congrats on finding exactly what you wanted!

IMO this is a MUCH better pad than either of the other two appearance-wise. Color is very much like my mental image of my ideal pad!

Thank you to all of the kind, complimentary comments! Yes, I am much happier with this stone. I love it! I make myself hold off from becoming attached until my purchases ‘check out,’ either with an independent appraiser or GIA/AGL. It’s hard to delay gratification; I would much rather post them here than wait and wait on AGL, but at least this way it’s kind of like I get to enjoy the purchase twice!

Also re: the older bits of the thread, which I hadn't seen until yesterday, especially both sapphires being advertised as Sri Lankan - I have heard that a number of gem dealers in Sri Lanka will buy sapphires from all over and sell without origin reports as Sri Lankan at the inflated price for the origin. So if you are buying something as a Sri Lankan sapphire, always always always get an origin report. I'd do that for anything where the origin was adding a price premium tbh. I personally don't care about origin as long as the color is right so will often search for non-premium origins, but I know others care.

It’s gorgeous! :kiss2: Congrats on finding your pad!
Please come back and show us how you ended up setting it!

Holding my nose, I confess, eBay.
everything checked out, and I had made an offer of 25% off.

No need to hold your nose! I love eBay (or rather have a love/hate relationship with it haha).

I have bought some of my favorite things on Ebay! The trick is to find reliable sellers.

I absolutely love this new pad! It is a gorgeous color and great size. I'm jealous!

Today I picked up the re-set in the new-to-me mounting. Ta da!CB2B4D0F-AFE0-4137-997B-00DEEDFB617C.jpeg8AC18EAA-0295-4217-B941-70DFE3B08BEF.jpeg

You set it! Oh how stunning!! I love that you didn't shy away from a large diamond presence, and also that you set an oval in a somewhat "rectangular" mounting. Really rich result... enjoy it!!

Oooh, that is very, very, pretty and I love the movement in shapes. What an amazing frame for such color.

So gorgeous! Love the setting for it. :kiss2:

Wow! Awesome that you had the foresight to see how beautiful it would look in that setting. Beautiful stone and beautiful piece!!
