So I bought a diamond marquise ring off eBay last week. It was a L(ish) I1 ( ish) marquise measuring about 10.3x5.1.
Based on the description, I would have stayed far away from it
BUT it had a tempting price tag and a free return I had to pull the trigger.
It came today and I am amazed!!
The sparkle is what surprised me first. The tips are so fiery. No dead areas at all. The clarity in no way decreases the sparkle factor. it has a bowtie, but its not a bothersome one.
Second the clarity. Looking at it not the hand I see nothing! There's a feather you can see at about 6 inches, but as a RHR I'm comfortable with that, its hard to find unless you're looking.
Color: this was the number one thing holding me back. The h in my pear sometimes was unattractive. So an L... how could I like it. Well this stone is so flipping well cut and bright it doesn't get dingy or ugly at all. It a chameleon. In some lights its a twinge yellow but again not dingy. Often times still really white.
The setting. Its a but high, but the baguettes are beautiful and the setting makes the marquise look classic. Not at all 80s
Price. As some of you know I'm looking for a cheap ring for my FBIL. this ring was just barely out of his budget!!
I'm having trouble getting a good pic because my camera phone has a black back and it makes the bowtie seem SOOO much more predominant than it is.
