After selecting the the CBI diamond (https://www.pricescope.com/communit...in-person-w-pics-and-video-comparison.248180/), we worked with Layla at HPD to design a setting. We wanted an elegant, classic 6-prong cathedral solitaire setting. Our design inspirations were Vatche’s Swan and HPD’s Symphonie. After concluding that we wanted a ring that could sit next to a straight wedding band, we eliminated the surprise diamonds in the design.
We made some modifications to HPD’s “Astoria” design. The end result from HPD’s bench is what we’d hope for and more. The prongs and polish on the ring are exceptional. The custom process took a little over a week with a few rounds of iterations. The bench took 6 weeks to make. However, when HPD inspected it, they were not satisfied with one of the prongs. It took a week to resolve that issue. Their commitment to the highest standards is evident, as the finished product is exquisite.
In terms of design, we wanted the diamond to sit up a little but not too high. The shank is slightly tapered to from 2.7mm to 2mm, which we think has a nice balance with the diamond. The metal is platinum.
I’ve tried to capture the beauty and life of the diamond in the pictures and video, but it’s not possible. We are still getting used seeing it in different environments.
If anyone can help me figure out how to upload videos, I can share those as well.
