How much should a guy spend on an engagement ring?

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts on this! There are a lot of great advise here. This is really helpful and reminded me that whatfs more important. I do agree that it is more of buying the one that fits OUR budget and that we both can agree with as we currently live together in the house that we just purchased last year. Also, considering cost for wedding etc, we are with a tight budget. It is hard not to start wanting better stone once start searching thoughc.

Anyway, I already told him that Ifm o.k. with 1 month salary.
