We watched “Casino” on Netflix last night. Never saw it before. My DH enjoyed it more than I did. Too violent for me but it was a good story.

Finished “ Borderliner” this weekend. The ending left me ehh. I enjoyed it otherwise and wish there was a season 2. Oh well.

Holy Moly! Just watched the Netflix documentary "Take Your Pills," about the Adderall epidemic in this country for students (and then adults). Whew! I don't have kids, but if you do YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS. I want to talk to my students about this tonight - I'm so glad I went to college before this started happening, although Ridlin was certainly around. I don't remember every person taking it to study, however. Really eye opening documentary!

@violet3 It's not available for me yet, but I will watch that documentary. Both of my adult daughters are ADHD diagnosed. Both present differently. Both are on meds, Vyvanse for one and Concerta for the other. It took YEARS for them to get a proper diagnosis. More especially for my oldest very quiet daughter. Quite atypical. Both are so much happier on medication. It has helped immensely. So I don't know how I'm going to feel watching this documentary. In Canada, I found the elementary school system especially failing to help. Then in high school nothing. College nothing, just extra time to complete tests. It took so long. To be fair, youngest knew by 18 and refused medication because she's creative and she thought it would kill that. Now she is happy and very productive.

@PintoBean, just finished season 1 and on episode 2 of season 2 of Into the Badlands. Love the crazy kung-fu action. I quite like Minerva too atm. Pretty upset about a certain baron showing up, wth. Was the series based on a comic or manga?

Recently watched Requiem. I really liked it as a thriller, although it had quite the major plothole for those of us science geeks. But enjoyable enough until the end I guess. Seemed plopped on. It sounds like I hated it, but really I just want to see more International thrillers on Netflix. It's the genre I love. Not horror, but very suspenseful.

We just finished Requiem this weekend. I also wanted to love it and am unsure what I think of it. It was enjoyable for much of it but the ending left me cold and yeah it was a huge leap in many areas of the story. IDK. It is also the genre we love and I wish there were more quality shows and good suspense shows on Netflix/TV/Cable.

But I still recommend watching it because overall it was enjoyable.

Seriously I'm so loving "someone like you" right now. I've actually cried watching it.

Hi PB, although originally South East Asian, I hadn't really watched any Oriental drama series despite there being tons on TV. But your post in this thread prompted me to watch Someone Like You, and I loved it! and yes, I cried a few times too. The style of drama was not what I expected and was pleasantly surprised. Not like the snippets I caught on TV in SEA while I was growing up many, many years ago. Reading the subtitles was no problem. I enjoyed the story too. Really, I watched as much as I could everyday till it was over!
Are there anymore similar to this style/quality on Netflix that you can recommend?
Thanks again for mentioning this one :wavey:

I thought "love around" is good. Nowhere as amazing as someone like you but good. George Hu is definitely a cutie too. This one is with a former gangster's son and a DJ who is a daughter of a retired cop.

For fun try love chef. I didn't like how the teenage boys were a bit chauvinistic and the nerdy girl a bit too passive. That made me roll my eyes lolol. Otherwise it's a big ensemble cast since it takes place at a school for cooking.

Just finished "Safe" on Netflix. It was good. It's a French-American-British television drama series about a widower searching for his 16 year old missing daughter. Lots of secrets uncovered. An entertaining 8 soapy episodes.

I want to watch "Safe", but they are only uploading an episode a week. I need something I can binge. I hate waiting! I just finally got Amazon Prime video, and watched all of Mrs Maisel. I loved it! It was definitely not what I was expecting, but was a good surprise. When is Season 2?

That's odd. We (binge) watched it all in a few viewings.

Thanks for the reminder re Mrs Maisel. We started it months ago and then forgot about it (we don't often watch Amazon Prime) but it was good. Will go back and watch. Thanks =)2

Oh a few more since it's been a while since I updated.
-Nailed it - this is good background tv. horrible bakers trying to recreate semi-complicated desserts.
-Tucker & Dale vs Evil - I watched this on 4/13 as homage to Friday the 13th. Its a horror, but funny? Pretty graphic but not very scary.
-100 s5 - kind of meh about it so far.
-The Joel McHale show with Joel Mchale - basically the same as his old show The Soup, making fun of last weeks TV. I enjoy it, and I like his humour.
-Queer Eye - The first few eps I didnt love, but I liked the rest. I watched the original TV series. One of them made me cry, it was really heartwarming. Looking forward to s2

I've been watching eureka on Amazon prime. Those that like scandal will get a kick out of the eureka character Henry. He plays Rowan Pope on Scandal. Totes different type of character. It's rather fun!

Ive been watching inborn pair - another Taiwanese series. It's about 70 episodes. It's too flipping long lololol. I'm about episode 65 ish? Zzzzzz... I think I'm going to explore Korean series soon. Whenever I'm at the nail salon I get sucked in. The ladies sure pick really dramatic series!

I'm behind on the times... but really enjoying Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. A little cheesy sometimes and predictable but a fun, light-hearted comedy. Some musical parodies thrown in too.

Surprised you never seen Casino before. It is a good movie. One of the more brutal mob hits is towards the end where they take the brothers out to the field. (won't ruin it for those that haven't scene it yet)

If you haven't seen American History X yet, it's also worth a watch. Lots of violence -- especially the curb scene -- makes me cringe thinking about it. But takes a different perspective on racism and thug life.

A few others I enjoy...

- House of Cards
- Shameless
- Handsmaid Tales (just started this, very different)
- Game of Thrones (not really a fan of medieval time period movies, but this one keeps me interested)
- Dexter (stupid ending, and took me getting past the 1st season to really enjoy)
- This is Us (might be on Hulu instead)
- SEAL Team
- Suits
- Billions

Hi there @sledge, thanks for all the recs. We did see American History X when it came out. Fantastic! Yes violent but I just turn my head or cover my eyes during the very violent parts. There is so much violence in movies and it turns me off generally especially when it is gratuitous. I agree that sometimes it is necessary for the storyline but other times completely unnecessary. I wish we were less repressed about sex and more repressed about violence because I feel all the violence in movies/tvs/video games desensitizes us and our young ones to violence in the world.

Absolutely love Billions and watched it on Showtime. Didnt realize it was on Netflix.
LOVED Game of Thrones and very disappointed that we have to wait so long for the next season.
LOVE This is Us. Watched it on tv
LOVED Shameless (watched it on TV) but never finished it-thanks for the reminder.
LOVED Dexter and agree with you about the ending.
LOVED House of Cards and shame on Kevin Spacey. I hope it is coming back with a different lead and they aren't canceling the whole show.
Never saw Seals or Suits. Will check it out.
Want to watch Handmaids tale-thanks for the reminder.

We just finished season 1 of a delightful series but it's on Amazon. "the marvelous mrs. maisel". Hope season 2 isn't far behind.

Yes I started watching this but Greg didn't care for it so if I ever get a chance to watch tv without him I will start this again. Thanks for the reminder @PierreBear.

How funny that you mentioned it's not the show for Greg. DH wouldn't enjoy it either. Def more oriented towards women. Hope you enjoy it though if you decide to check into it again.

This season (2) of Marcella was compelling but very disturbing. I hope there will be a third season. I'm starting Safe, but it would have been so much better if Michael C. Hall wasn't trying to do an English accent! It's so distracting.
