helping with $4-5k budget e-ring: what would you do?

Hi! I'm helping my friend's boyfriend find an e-ring. He wants to spend $4-$5k. She says that the most important thing is a very intricate, pave, possibly but not nec halo. She doesn't care if the stone is that large and she doesn't care if it's diamond or yellow or blue sapphire.

I personally think that she'd be happiest with a sapphire at least 6.5mm in a nice blue (an area I have I know a little more about), and then put most of the money into the setting.

He is a little bit more interested in diamonds. I think he could probably do something in the .70 ct range at the largest and then pick from a large variety of settings, from ERD, Ritani, etc.

What would you advise?

If she is okay with lower colored stones, and her bf really wants to purchase her a diamond, then I think that I would consider an old cut with lower color and set it in a intricate setting that she will adore.

Hmm. Interesting problem. I get him wanting a diamond. And since she does care... why not?

She cares more about the setting than the center. Does it have to be round?

If it has to be round:
What I'd do:
http://jewelsbyericagrace.com/loose_antique_and_vintage_diamonds_-_under_1_carat 0.75ct $2,300

with:
http://interactivepdf.uniflip.com/2/77036/286475/pub/ Bella Halo in 14K for 2,600. Intricate and beautiful pave halo.

if it doesn't have to round there are more options.
I do think that Bella Halo will make her happy though. It's intricate and beautiful. With a sapphire or a diamond.

Fabulous idea! I adore the Bella halo and with two tone, rose and white gold  *sigh* I'd be tripping all over myself!

I think old cut in a lower color might be a good idea!

I actually did have the JBEG Bella on my to-recommend list. I think that could be a very good option.

One question - do you think the Bella's halo will be overpowering on a sub-6mm stone?

Oh yeah, and it doesn't have to be round. She just said no princess, emerald, or marquise cuts.

Good question...and I'm not sure. ;)) I know that each one is made custom, so perhaps they could adjust the proportions a bit to enhance the size of the center stone? I'm no good at settings or giving advice regarding them so I'll defer back to Gypsy, but I do think that it could work.

These are all great. I will send them to him.

Especially with the diamonds! You guys are really the experts!

Does anyone know if any of the custom guys would be able to do something somewhat intricate in the $3000 - $4000 range?

Thank you SO much!

I had the bella halo with a 1.07AVC ( 6mm X 6mm, it was a little bigger than that but I am just rounding down) and a 3.47 Antique cushion (9.21 X 8.88), honestly, the proportions and just appreciating the details were much, much, better on a bigger stone.

ERD. Definitely can.

I adore this one: http://www.engagementringsdirect.com/carla-petite-micro-pave-split-shank-engagement-ring-bpid-106-19.html This one would need a sapphire.

I love this one too: http://www.engagementringsdirect.com/elise-split-shank-4-prong-micro-pave-ribbon-enagement-ring-bpid-150-18.html You can get a diamond with this one.

Thanks, Resonance of Life. I saw yours and it looked beautiful in pictures! But it's always good to remember how VERY scaled down these things are in real life compared to on the screen.

I'm also going to recommend the JBEG Gabbie - http://jewelsbyericagrace.smugmug.com/SignatureSettingsPortfolio/Halo/The-Gabbie-Halo-Setting-1/15232017_cCzpHK#!i=1400931829&k=ztj8P55
Seems like a lovely twist on the halo.

Seems like JBEG could do the Gabbie in other cuts besides round. Worth looking into anyway.

Another front runner is this Beverly K - http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/192PP1/

I think she'd also like the Tacori Starry night posted!

Those ERDs look awesome, too, Gypsy! Any idea on the pricing on the Carla?

Oh, btw, found out her dream rings is the Kwiat Tulip (http://www.kwiat.com/fine-diamond-jewelry/tulip-ring-cushion-diamond-rose-gold/p/58134/99/0/0). She also had some more traditional halos with more delicate pave on her list, though mentioned wanting a something a bit different.

I know her twin sister has a .95 ct RB in a a more modern-looking halo. I'd steer him toward something different enough...

She also had something with "swags" on her list, like this one:

http://www.stuller.com/browse/mountings/wedding-and-engagement/engagements/ LOOK, there are a TON of pave settings here. ANY of our jewelers can get Stuller in and finish the settings and set the stones.

Pave galore: http://www.stuller.com/products/121963/?groupId=112912
http://www.stuller.com/products/121965/3432096/?groupId=112897
http://www.stuller.com/products/121961/?groupId=112918

ERD could do a fabulous job finishing any of those.

I do not unfortunately know the price of the Clara, but Mark is a sweetheart, just call and ask for the price is 14k white gold.

Thank you all so much, again. I think he's a little overwhelmed right now, so I'm going to chat with him about all the options that I've sent, make some initial decisions and then regroup.

I like the oval idea and I'm going to send them to him. Ovals are so elegant and such a good deal. I'm glad they are getting more attention.

That Blue Nile set on DB is a pretty good deal, too!

Has anyone seen the GabrielNY halo IRL? I think the renders always look a little less appealing than the real deal.

I agree finger is concerned about getting something opposite of what her sister got, an oval in a vintage halo would be beautiful!

If given the choice I think Beverly k is prettier and does vintage better than Gabriel and co. Though I do love some of there things.

Would he consider a colors stone halo? Beverly k does those beautifully.

Colored stone halo as in the halo itself is made out of colored stones? I'd seen those on the Beverly K site but no where else. Any idea on the pricing on those?

I wonder if ERD could do it for that price.

You might have to get the whole thing from them, but worth an email to say "trying tocgrt this look with this size oval for 5k"

See what they can do

I think them remaking that round day Cullen one you posted for an oval might be doable and definitely beautiful.
