Hi all!
Ok, so I am back again with my cushion. I think I am starting to realize that my "clean" solitaire setting isn't really working (for me) with my cushion and even worse, I understand now that don't like four prong settings (on me, my personal preference!). Four prongs make my diamond look square, and I don't want that look. I don't want a halo.
I started looking at other diamond shapes, maybe change my cushion to an OEC or something else that could work in a 6 prong setting, but then I realized that this truly is the most beautiful rock I can find (for me). So, no luck in finding another shape/cut.
That brings me to my problem. What to do re the setting.
I want the ring to have a vintage look. I found this ring, Jessica, made by Single Stone. I really love the shank and the little diamonds on the shoulders, I think my cushion may need some "friends" like that, single cut melee... The band/ring is perfect, but the head is not what I want though. I hope its ok to post a picture, please let me know and I will try to remove it otherwise...

edl posted this wonderful van craeynest ring. I love the eight prong look, top down. I haven't really found many settings like this, maybe that is because it is too much for a 1 ct stone? My old solitaire was "only" 0.5 ct and had 6 prongs and I loved it. 1 ct and eight prongs should work then, right?

Ok, to make things even more complicated. I found this gorgeous head of a setting at a nice vintage store selling diamond rings in my city. I never took a photo of it, but it reminded me of Tourmaline's gorgeous ring, but instead of hearts between the prongs there were diamond shapes (I mean squares, not rocks..

My limited photo shopping skills resulted in this creation.
My question..? Well.. what do you think? Has anyone seen something close or similar to this? Maybe point me in some direction.. or perhaps if you have some other settings in a vintage style that you think might suit my cushion... Any help appreciated! Not sure I want to go custom, but maybe I will have to...
Sorry for long post!!
