Hey there, long time lurker but looking to pull the trigger on a diamond in the next few days, but I can't quite find the right one for me and figured I'd enlist some happy helpers if they are willing.

What I'm looking for 2ct, or maybe slightly smaller or larger cushion cut or oval diamond. H or better in color ideally. Clarity (eye clean or minimal flaws). I'd love for a hearts and arrows sort of pattern, but it isn't the most important thing to me as I really want edge to edge brightness. The lady likes modern cushions, not a fan of vintage ones such as AVC, which is a shame because I love everything he puts out and would really love to give him my business as he's gotten me so interested into the science of diamonds. The curveball I may add is she likes cushions and ovals equally, but we can't find an oval that we really love as I can't stand standard ovals.
Priorities - Optics #1 > Color > Clarity
Brian Gavin has one that I liked in a J 2.08 I believe, however I am quite worried about a J color and would really like to be H or better. If anyone has feedback as to how his J's are in signature diamonds I'd love to know more or see!

August Vintage has a few opulence ovals, however the ones in stock seem to have a few too many flaws for my eyes.

Budget is 15k but it can go a bit higher as much as 18 if something is spectacular.

Hope someone can guide me in the right direction.
I also found this, but I don't know much about this site -> https://www.b2cjewels.com/diamond-search/dd/12361194/Cushion-Diamond-F-Color-VS2-Clarity

Thanks!

Cushions and ovals are quite different. I think the most important thing is to figure out which shape you want. Is this for you, or for your intended?

Do drop Rhino a line re: the Opulence Ovals (or whatever their new name will be) - he can custom cut, so it's worth asking :))

I am also willing to bet that even if it's not an Opulence, Rhino can find you what you're looking for in either shape. Been doing that for a long time before the brands were around.

I'm better at cushions than ovals, so here's a few:

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/v/76Z759060 (note: you said you wanted H&A. This one doesn't ASET well- or at least the ASET posted isn't good- so important to remember that H&A doesn't mean the same thing for cushions as it does for rounds. That said if you like the pattern, who cares?)

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/v/094368763 (right at budget but 2.14)

She likes them equally, not preference for her.

Those look okay, not sure based on the ASET if they will be very bright though? I really would like ideal optics above all.

Ok good to know.

For ideal optics, I'd recommend one of the ideal ovals from rhino, or one of the h&a cut cushions from Brian Gavin. Otherwise, cushions and ovals are super subjective, and tricky to get "right". There are many gorgeous ones, but much less of a subjective "ideal" like there is with rounds .

Another vote for Jon’s Opulence Ovals! :wavey:
