help me find my dream OMC elongated warmer ideally 2.5 - 3 ct [or "spready"]

I inquired about that one. It's so pretty. And Leslie is really helpful.
It's within my budget but only has an appraisal which makes me a little nervous.
details for others: 2.6 center old mine cushion 8.6x7.62x5.79 with OEC side stones .05 each. Gold and platinum. It's lovely.

I’ve never bought anything (except a modern cut) that came with a lab report. However this is from a vendor, not eBay etc. If the price is better than the others, you could get some opinions from people here, who have good eyes. Then get a decent return policy (two weeks) and take it to an appraiser in town.

I say this because this diamond looks very pretty to me with nice fire and a nice cut. I like the setting, and it saves having to make one. But it depends on cost, how much risk you’d want to take, and on many other factors. With a bezel you can’t unset it for a lab report, and chips are a possibility at the girdle, but you can sometimes see them with a loupe. This one is not going to have a huge presence on the hand either, see dimensions. I’m guessing this is “OP” or warmer color. If cost is comparatively better due to no lab report, this one looks nice to me.

Maybe others have opinions though.

good to know about not needing a GIA in certain cases. Leslie said it would risk damage to remove the stone and her appraiser seems to be well qualified. I like the two tone setting. Price is good and it's the idea of what I said I want. But I feel like I am trying to convince myself instead of being like YES. You know?

I'm hoping to hear back from Whitney on a couple of loose stones that I love and also waiting to hear about another stone on Friday.

If you see anything pop up, let me know.

I will probably end up on the higher end to get what I want unless I get really lucky.

Thanks for all the help.

that's the same one we've been talking about BUT it made me look through and here's another one...it's a bigger diamond with no side stones. Italy circa 1900s.
The diamond info on appraisal 2.75 carat I SI 2 Old mine cut cushion

Oh sorry, I missed that! I was just quick scrolling and was all,
I sEe OnE, run and tellllll!
I got excited and didn't check

This other stone is lovely and I love the basket design

it's hard when you can't see the diamond by itself or read the gia report, not that I understand as much as you all. But the savings on the setting is a plus. They are on the high end of my price range.

That 2.15 ct oval from sako is well within budget even with an elaborate setting.

I would have loved to know about the one Whitney had but I never heard back from her sadly.

I am still pondering and looking.

It is fun to look. And I love knowing these rings / stones have such a history.

Here's a couple cvb settings I love. I'd replace the pink with diamonds probably but it is pretty.

I love the Italian ring too! It’s a totally different cut from another era but both are oval.

I love BOTH. This diamond is beautiful too, in its own way. And that Italian setting! Detailed basket and romantic curved arms are lovely.

Help me rule some of these out.

Sorry I am late to the party! I love the 3.13 - very similar proportions to my ring. I love the cut so much. So I am partial to that. I also love the spread on that so it does have a sizable presence.

A close second would be the 2.5ct omc with Leslie - although I feel like it might be a bit small for you.

the 3.54

and another smaller and mid-range stone

Thank you. I asked for another video of the 3.13.

I really like the 3.13 too! I also think the 2.5 is beautiful.

Yes the 3.13 is very nice.

I also like both diamonds in the antique settings.

I would exclude the 2.15 oval and the 3.54 I1 on the grounds of cut and inclusions. The other options are just much nicer.

I think it really comes down to what you prefer.

1. A very nice loose stone - with cert so you know exactly what you are paying for. And you can design your own setting (this may or may not be a bonus for some lol). This will be an added cost if that is also a factor.

2. A genuine antique stone and setting, but without the cert so you don't know what the stats are (it may or may not be important to you). The face up is smaller than #1 however it is an antique setting so you save yourself the cost of a custom ring. Although you may or may not need to resize it.

I loved the appeal of having a genuine antique ring with an antique setting but during my search there was nothing that fit the bill. Often these completed rings fetch a premium because of the provenance.

For me, my main goal was size was it was a no brainer but ymmv.

I'm nowhere near as cut science knowledgeable. I'm just an eyeballer.

That 3.13 has beautiful cutting. It will be the wow stone. I actually wish it had more color(but that 's a very personal preference).

I ran here for the 2.5 ring and told you twice, so I like that one very much

The other ring is beautiful but it's a very specific almost portrait flavoring. It won't be a 'sparkler' so much as limpid pool.

The little oval is nice, I thought it was newly cut when I saw it. It isn't a cushion, it won't have the width, though does have an elongated shape.

But I'm obsessed by the wonk and color so I usually go for one that has a flaw/color.
