Hey guys! Long time lurker here and feeling very overwhelmed by trying to find that perfect stone. Looking for a round up to $10,000. Will sacrifice on color and clarity and would like to get as close to 2 carats as possible. My girl wants a yellow gold ring. I read that if you have a yellow gold ring that color isn't as important. Is that true? Is a J color pushing it too much? Any help or suggestions is much appreciated!

If itis GIA certified diamond a J color will look fine in yellow gold. But if you have side diamonds, they must match their color to J as well

Too many inclusions. Let us look around some.

Edit
AGS000 K color stone

AGS000 with inclusions that hopefully can be hidden under prongs???

Whiteflash has a great upgrade policy...ask for picture side-by-side if interested

Great, thanks! No side diamonds so I think it should work than.

Awesome! Thanks for showing me some alternatives. I really like that 2nd one. I think the Whiteflash ones are too small but I love their upgrade policy.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you don't plan on giving your girl the ring during the return period, and she happens to be color sensitive and prefer a higher color, the non-WF options will leave you stuck. With WF, you can use the upgrade policy to change to a higher color with just $1 added to the first diamond cost. With most other vendors, you would have to double the price.

Have you discussed diamond color with her? What does she do professionally? Is she a highly color sensitive person who says "ecru, warm white, beachy white" or someone who calls most such colors "white". Does she have a closet of shoes or purses and needs to match everything, or is she a whatever kind of person?

Thanks for the input! Fortunately she is not that color sensitive and is more of a whatever kind of person. One of many reasons I want to spend the rest of my life with her :))) We've looked at some I'a and J's and didn't seem to bother her really. She is more focused on the size aspect which I pushed back on a bit. We went to one jeweler that wanted us to buy an EGL but couldn't tell me anything on the cut and they had none of the measurements on the appraisel for the HCA. Seemed sketchy so bailed out of there. I really like the upgrade policy at WF but def seems like you pay for it.

If color isnt all that important this is kinda nice, the table is way bigger than the recommended ideal specs but the numbers still look good on it. Maybe they can provide an ASET image on it. It has a brown tint so might clash a bit with the yellow gold but it hits the size requirement and its not deep so you are paying for what you see in size

This is sacrificing size but its going to be a very nice clean performing stone

Then there is this one which is a bit deeper then recommended. For some reason its just not "singing" to me but thought I would show you. Its also just above budget so again that makes me want to skip it

57.3 table, 62.2 depth, 35.4 crown, 40.7 pavilion & 76 LGF

Easily the best of these 3 stones. It got an ideal cut grade from AGS so it's not a horrible stone, but because the depth is > 62.0 it would likely be classified as an expert select (not ACA) if it was a WF stone. Also, it does have pretty good symmetry as it made the JA TH collection.

A far cry better than the first stone. The depth doesn't bother me at 62.1. The steep 35.5 crown with steep 41 pavilion isn't complimentary. Also, you are pushing the table at 58. And 80 LGF's, which I know are acceptable but less desirable.

I'd pass.

I disagree with your last sentence. Run a search on JA for diamonds with the recommended specs & SI1+, J+, & 1.6-2ct for under 10k & you'll find 1 diamond. A 1.6 J.
At WF you're paying for a super ideal diamond. The unreal upgrade policy is a bonus

Thanks for the input kkjohnson and sledge! I do like the one you pointed out as a good choice but comes in a little smaller...

What do you think of this stone? It scores a 1 on HCA. It's hits the size but I'm worried about the inclusions.

You say your girl is not detail oriented and not color sensitive. If size is the top priority, this would give you size with good performance. Its AGS000 and in budget. I feel like this meets all your wants....

I like this setting for a solitaire. https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...dern-tulip-diamond-engagement-ring-item-50671

This with pave.

Thanks for the input Rocky! She wants a Tiffany setting in yellow 18k gold. Was thinking this setting...

I found this one... What do you guys think?

And the report...

I was thinking I could hide some of the imperfections around the perimeter with the prongs. What do you guys think?

I put it on hold so any input from you guys would be great! As I've looked at it closer and compared to other K's it does seem to have a brown tint to it. Does anyone else notice that?

If your girl truly wants size over all else, this is fine. I'm, personally, not a fan of those inclusions. You can cover some, but they will still may be visible once set, but you won't know until it is set.

How about this one? https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...color-vs1-clarity-true-hearts-cut-sku-4425632, 7.64 mm {body color is yellow over brown, it faces up whiter, no dark inclusions, higher "K" color than the other one; I'd easily choose this over the other TBH}

Diamond body color comes in yellow, brown and grey -- in order of occurrence. I personally prefer brown in lower colors over yellow , but that is not everyone's taste. I'd say the PS community is pretty split on this.

I like the one rocky posted much better than the other K option. The AGS plots were making me a little nervous on the first one.

Thanks guys!
