Ok so I have still been looking around for the One and I may have found it.

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.976-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-bl-104084748003

I have a few concerns however, which I am hoping you lovely people will be able to quash:

1. Is it eye clean even with that inclusion in the centre?

2. I have viewed a few I coloured diamonds and could see the colour in them and would prefer a G/H. do you think this stone will have that issue with the medium fluor.

Any other comments are more than welcome.

Thanks
Lee

The inclusion is pretty small, I'd think it would be eye clean at most distances (perhaps not up very close and you are looking for it).

For colour - the other stones you've seen, have they been GIA graded? So you saw a GIA I and could see colour, and thus preferred a GIA H?

I ask because if you've seen an EGL or IGI I colour, it would likely be considered lower on GIA standards (for example, EGL I might = GIA K or something).

The fluor will not affect this stone in most lighting. So if you can see/are bothered by the tint in I colour, you should bump up a grade.

telephone89 - It was an AGS or GIA I coloured stone and I did prefer the G/H as I could see a slight tint off the I.

I really like the stone except for the fact that it is I rather than H. The price is also very good at $5183 but I wonder if I should hold out and hope that a similar size and price comes up at H colour...

Will shipping cost you a fortune? BG has a great return policy if you are able to buy it, take a look at it for a few days and decide.

What kind of setting are you looking at? Have you looked at diamonds loose or in a setting when you noticed the tint? Sometimes a setting can disguise (or enhance) a bit of the tint too.

Return shipping is putting me off as it could come in around a couple of hundred dollars.

I'm looking at solitaire setting with a cathedral or simple prong detail still not decided yet.

The ones I have seen are in a similar setting that I want, so this is why I am concerned.

1. Every vendor has a different definition when it comes to "eye cleanliness".
https://www.pricescope.com/journal/what_eye_clean_diamond
In most cases, these definitions are not good e1nough for me. I view my diamond from many different angles/distance/lighting conditions.
That inclusion in I VS2 may or may not be visible, depending on YOU define "eye clean"
There was a stone from WF that was labeled as "eye clean". But upon further inspection, a inclusion was visible when viewed from 4 inch.

2. A very recent video from GOG
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWWwp-u7DBo

If I were you, I would considering buying a stone 0.9 H or G VS1 from JA. G/VS1 is one of my personal favourite combos
Why? if you buy from BG, WF, and GOG, you may have to make some compromise on color and/or clarity, which are your main concerns here, in addition to your budget.

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.91-carat-h-color-vvs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-926476 (VVS1 is an overkill though. But you can still brag about it)
May or may not be the most precision cut stones like BG/WF/GOG, but still top performing GIA EX that trumps 99% stones you see locally in Canada, still G or H, still mind clean VS1/VVS1)

Of course, if you want flexibility on your investment, and the cut is your top priority, BG/WF/GOG is a better option.

Thanks flying pig, I watched that video and it was very helpful. I agree with both you are telephone89 that I should stick with H+

Those options are beautiful, however I was hoping to get closer to 0.95 and am willing to wait it out.

The cut is important but for me getting an all round beautiful stone is the most important for me. So you would recommend I keep an eye on JA and check back regularly for the perfect one?

i went to Engaged Diamond studio and found the owner very knowlegable and was told that they carry AGS and GIA stones. They also do custom settings. Check them out if you want to see the stones in person.
