Halo Setting Question

I had previously thought that I had my heart set on a simple 6 prong setting because I find other diamonds can detract from the centre diamond. However, after seeing the Tacori 2620 I'm having second thoughts. I like that the halo is delicate doesn't overwhelm the diamond. It seems like an expensive setting though. Are there any similar non-designer settings to the Tacori 2620? I had previously only been looking at James Allen because their settings and diamonds seemed like a good value and easy to ship to Canada, but does anyone have other suggestions to look at for more unique settings?

Thank you! :)

Victor Canera and Steven Kirsch make hand forged platinum pieces. Their halos are amazing. I mention these because I have personally seen their halos and they are the most beautiful I have ever seen. (I know that other PSers will have others to recommend.) The center stone sits very close to the halo, unlike tacori. If you like the gap, I am sure they can make it, but I am not certain it goes with their aesthetics. They aren't necessarily cheaper than Tacori, but many PSers find that they prefer halos made by these artists to Tacori. However, it's all a matter of preference.
Check out this thread of beauties by Victor Canera.

Steven Kirsch does stunning halos too. There are so many people that have been happy with his halos as well. Below are some pictures of Steven's work.

I will link some threads if I have time. Hope others can add some. If you look up his name on PS, you will find many threads of his work.

The Tacori 2620 is unique in that the the center stone edges seem to overhang the halo, so the halo appears more subtle. The center stone sits a little higher than in other halo settings, since it's kind of "above" the halo. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's this one: http://www.tacori.com/2620rdsm

Personally, I think Tacori may be worth the price if you love everything about that setting. Good Old Gold can get Tacori, as well as Since1910.com. If you'd want any changes to the setting, I'd suggest talking to Caysie van Bebber/Love Affair Diamonds about a custom ring. It probably won't cost any less, but you could make the adjustments you'd want. CvB/LAD have done some amazing antique-style settings. Check out both of their Instagram accounts, or Caysie's Etsy shop for more photos in addition to those at Love Affair Diamonds website.

I also think David Klass could execute a similar setting quite well, based on what I've seen of his pave and milgrain. This would be more of a budget option. He doesn't have a website, but his Facebook page has contact info: https://www.facebook.com/david.klass.jewelry/

This info has been so helpful! Im going to spend some time looking at different designers rings. Is anyone familiar with any Canadian designers who do a good job of halo settings?

I think Victor Canera and cvb settings are a little out of my price range. I have emailed David Klass for a quote. Otherwise, I seem to have it narrowed down to these five:

1. http://www.brilliantearth.com/Lotus-Flower-Diamond-Ring-(1/3-ct.-tw..)-Rose-Gold-BE1BD12R2-1152820/?did=2504650&is_tab=1

2. http://www.brilliantearth.com/Halo-Diamond-Ring-Rose-Gold-BE1BDB15R15-1152017/?did=2504650&is_tab=1

3. https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/14k-rose-gold-pave-halo-engagement-ring-item-41414

4. https://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/halo/14k-rose-gold-pave-halo-twisted-shank-solitaire-item-41409

5. https://www.ritani.com/engagement-rings/french-set-halo-diamond-engagement-ring-in-18kt-rose-gold/12499

Does anyone have any comments/ suggestions or other alternatives within this price range ($1000 - $2000 CAD)? I definitely don't want any diamonds on the shank.

Thank you all for the information here. I also am in the same dilemma but for me my favorite setting is Tacori 2605 with 2549 shank twisted. I also am leaning towards Tacori. But as LLmom said I do NOT like the halo sitting too high up on the ring and I love the Victor Canera Halo. with Tacori's bloom and not set too high. Any suggestions as to which designer I should use? Cant i ask Tacori to make their halos more like Victor Canera style if possible do you know if they would do the custom design with their own Tacori elements? Thank you!

Hi gypsy

My budget is 12k for setting and 30k for diamond. Healthy but 15 years in the making. Thanks again for your help in this and other posts!

Work with Victor then for setting. :wavey: Although you may (I would) call Erika Winter's and see what she proposes.

What do you want in a diamond?

Depending on what your wishes are for the diamond, you could contact Victor Canera for the setting as well as the diamond. He seems to have amazing newly cut 'antique cuts'. If you love OEC's and antique cushion but with a superior cut, he is the man to contact.
Gypsy and the others can help you with sourcing diamonds from other vendors as well.

The link you gave went right to CVB - Cassie because she is no longer affiliated with LoveAffairDiamonds (LAD).

LAD sent out an email on Friday noting the change.

I love that Tacori setting! However, you can't go wrong with SK or VC either......just depends on your personal preference. Good luck and come back to show us what you chose! :naughty:
