Think of what a kid would tell you if you told him to look at a blank screen for a half hour. He'd be so . . .

oh obviously...I had even gone to that level! gaah! sam, though???
You know at the time I just thought Samuel Morse...Morse Code but now that I look again there isn't even any Morse Code in that level is there?! So I don't know!

Elrohwen I'm sorry I can't get beyond 26a and 27b. It's after midnight here so I will sleep on it! Best of luck, we're halfway there already!!

You're correct about Sam - it goes with the "your clues were typed in white" - there was Morse code in that level.

DH and I got a little way on 27b. If you put the binary in a translator, then take the answer you get and put it into binary. Translate again and you get ITA2 which is a 5-bit code cipher thing. But I'm stuck there! When I translate that using the chart in Wiki I get gibberish. I have some confirmation online that I'm headed in the right direction, but I can't find enough hints to get me past this point.

And I still have no clue on 26a.

Ah ok. Did you see the hint in the source code? I wonder does that have any reference to the gibberish?
OK I am REALLY going to sleep now :cheeky:

I have no idea about the hint - I was hoping it would make sense eventually but it hasn't yet. Hopefully you can try translating it and see if I made some stupid mistake or if you get the same gibberish. Goodnight!

aah!

How about that time
When your clues were typed in white - A Winter's Day
And a code by Sam - Snow

Eight numbers needed
To get only one letter - Level 6
Do you recall when

Or that level when
You looked for an acronym -Haikus
To reach the next clue

And the latest thyme
Whegn the letters were exchagnged
Phor same-sougndhygng ones - Hyns... (or another one of them? since it said latest and included the Ph, I assumed this one?)

And where we took you
All the way to Switzerland
And went to a town - Where in the World

Then you were forced to
Complete two puzzles at once
Folder and file - Finally! (right?)

Can you recall when
We gave you a ton of Es - It's a Wrap
And some periods

One last thing to say
Make sure you include the one
That looks quite like this -the Haikus one...already included that (acronym)

so the letters are I, F, W, H, H, L, S, A
alphabetically: A, F, H, H, I, L, S, W
AFHHILSW ...what am I missing?

I have the same answers as you, except that I used all of the weird spelling levels -12, 13, and 14 - so that I had T, M, and H in there. That doesn't work either.

I might be going in the wrong direction here, but I feel like it's that last stanza that's bothering me. Why is that included if "Haiku" was mentioned in one of the earlier stanzas?

This puzzle is frustrating, but I can't stop!

I agree with you about the last one...not sure why they tell you to include Haiku, since they already mentioned it???

You're right - you have to include Haiku twice. Mer - I had another I instead of an F...

I don't think you include Haiku twice - you need it once, plus Hygnsagnhyty once to get two H's. The one where you look for an acronym is the Llama one, not the haiku one. There's also no F.

Hmmm ... now I'm not remembering how I did it! I should've written it down. Only one A, otherwise you're right.

You need to find the cipher that Vigenere actually invented (it's not the one named after him) and find a translator for that (and not a translator that requires a key letter - one that requires a key word). Otherwise you're on the right track.

This is the one I'm on now. So you translated the original binary to regular letters then put back into binary to get 125-bits - right? You can break those into segments of 5-bits each and there are 5-bit codes out there, like ITA2. That's as far as I've gotten though :( Oh, and interestingly, if you take this 125-bit binary and translate into letters, the first letters are ITA2, which is a code - though when I try to use the code I don't get anything useful. I have read online that this is the way to go though.

yeah, I tried using the code on Wikipedia (Baudot code article) and another 5-bit code that I found online, and nothing useful...

ETA I am also stuck on the first one in the username path (Think big...)

I should really stop reading this forum. This puzzle is aggravating. :twirl: Can I get help with #24?

Username: Is this a person? (Whoami) I keep thinking big bang or big dipper.
Password: I get that it's the ADGFX cipher. I think the keyword is SPRING. I can't get it to work for me though. I don't want to download any software for this.

It's killing me.

Thanks! (Or maybe not, because you all turned me on to this thing.)

I am not sure what 24a is. 24b is the ADFGX cipher, and you have the right keyword...you just need to find a translator that can do that (and not the ADFGVX cipher!)

ETA my FI knew what 24a was...not sure how to hint at it?

Thanks! (Or maybe not, because you all turned me on to this thing.)

Thanks slg47 and merilenda, but I still don't get it. Arggghhhhh.

Username: So, is it Mandelbrot (capitalized)?
Password: Does this have to do with Snoopy and Peanuts? Or does it mean the hippie Woodstock?

I tried Mandelbrot and Peanuts, and Mandelbrot and Snoopy, together; they didn't work.

I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the end of my sanity.

You guys are good!
