I didntn see that before. Crap. I still doubt this isn't an eye clean stone from a 6-12" viewing range.

As for the high performance diamond, the cut is BEAUTIFUL! Unfortunately, that crystal inclusion is a bit too evident even when you view the light return.... will possibly give them a call tomorrow, thanks.

I think you would be surprised when you try to see that clear crystal with your eye at life size. There is only a very small percentage of people who could discern it from the top of the gem.

I know it is increasingly unpopular to keep saying this, but paper grades and reflector images only go so far, it really is necessary to see some diamonds up close and personal to know what YOU like.

No matter who you buy from or what you buy, be sure you have an inspect and return period that you are comfortable with.

One more piece of advice. You can't game the grading system for clarity. Not with GIA or AGS.

At SI grades for 1 carat + diamonds, the stone could be clean but it might pose to some degree, brilliance/durability issues. If it doesn't, you can probably see the inclusions without a loupe. Of course, this might vary according to individuals and depends on your eyesight and how eagle eyed you are.

I absolutely agree about not being able to game the system on clarity with GIA or AGS. I also believe that a truly 'eye clean' stone at the SI2 range may indicate some type of issue with overall brilliance. However I also believe that there are eye clean SI1 stones available....and not just in hit or miss cases, even SI2's depending on your definition of eye clean. I certainly dont want to admit that I may be getting old and that my vision may be deteriorating. ;)) But I believe it really depends on your definition of eye clean, your ability to locate and identify inclusions, the color and position of the inclusion, and your overall tolerence for inclusions. I personally am fine with well hidden or prongable inclusions....out of site out of mind...or non obvious inclusions from the side. But just because they exist doesn't automatically mean that it is obvious or negatively affects the stones beauty or performance...you just need to decide what YOU are comfortable with and that only comes from looking at many real life examples.

ETA. Interesting thread on clarity grading

Wink,

Thanks for taking the time to review my thread.

Those crystals are large but if they are barely perceptible and it would be nearly eye-clean, that would interest me. My only concern is that the inclusions are central.

I do think the girlfriend wanted >1 carat but I cannot seem to get significantly over it without dropping on quality in one way or another. MUST be ideal cut, near colorless. Can compromise on clarity within reason. Had wanted to go 1.1-1.2 carats but having difficulty. Your diamond does appear to be a good value in that respect.

OK g uys so don't freak out. :saint:

Have released these diamonds and am pursuing a lower color H/I/J combo. Reviewed some diamonds in real life and realized I CANT TELL THE DIFFERENCE between G and J. So I was stupid.

I will select some new ~1.25 carat diamonds and will update with idealscopes/aset images next week. Sorry to waste everyone's time. I hadn't realized what real-world vs online 40X magnification meant. :oops:

Will create new thread to that effect. Thanks for your input.

Thank you but goal is <7k with small wiggle room. Not sure super-ideal is necessary. Great ideal/AGS000/GIAXXX would be more than sufficient without extra qual. Thanks for the suggestions -- they are beautiful!

This will also meet your requirements, albeit on the slightly more expensive side. I would suggest, find a vendor you trust who has great trade up or buy back policies and deal with them.

Good luck!

Just remember, there are lurkers out there who might be looking for stones with similar properties. If you can, choose a stone and look at it personally - you would be able to return it if you are not satisfied, which would be of great benefit to you. The time involved is worth it for the peace of mind it provides.

In that case check out some of his other stones that are a bit smaller. They are really top cut if that IS what you are after;

I know this one is stretching the budget and bit but it is a G and an SI2 which is what you were originally looking for just in a bigger size, it would be nice and white and a top cut, I would ask him if its actually eye clean or not;

Keep in mind when you look at them and the Whiteflash ones and any others that the stones are magnified. ALWAYS ask if they are eyeclean don't assume anything, but do keep in mind when you see inclusions under magnification sometimes you can see it with the eye sometimes you can't often they don't look as bad in real life if that makes sense.

Re: Finding the right stone... SI2, G color, ideal cut (AGS

Seems like the sweet spot for the color she and I can see is at the I/J transition...

so the goal is now for <7k to find an eye clean 1.2ct, H/I, SI1, ideal RB.
