Hi Everyone!

I have finally narrowed down my purchase decision to three diamonds. All three look very good to me, but one is slightly more expensive than I would like, and i'm not sure if the size difference would be noticable. Feel free to share what your thoughts are as to which one looks to be shinier, and anything else that might come across your mind! THanks!

1st - 1.06 Carat, G, VS1

2nd - 1.07 Carat, E, SI1 (i have put this one on hold)

3rd - 1.32 Carat, D, SI1

To my eye, I like the third option - 1.32ct. With a fancy cut, you really need to view them in person as the particulars on paper don’t necessarily mean they are going to please your eye. Which one are you leaning towards? They are all pretty stones!

As for the size difference being noticeable between a 1.06 & a 1.32 in a pear cut, yes, it absolutely will.

I love the last option, nice and white with mostly clear facets (little mushiness).

I would pick 3rd, the 2nd one isn’t bad but isn’t as crisp as th 3rd. The first one is a definite no as it appears mushy on the ends.

Thank you for the replies! I feel the same, I had my eye on the 2nd and 3rd one. I was leaning toward the second simply due to the lower price. But now its soo hard to pick :cool2:

I concur on number 3! It has the cleanest facets (the least mushiness on the ends, as others have pointed out).

I can definitely understand being hesitant an that price jump though. If you're not all searched out at this point, maybe look for some 1ct pears with an eye toward clean faceting? Just a thought if you are looking to save a little.

I like 3 as well :)
Recently got my first fancy cut diamond and I’m totally a convert !

I like that third one as well!

Slightly window-y at the fat end when the pointy end is between 5 and 6 (if the rotating image was a clock lol) but strong performance apart from that!

I prefer number 4, cleaner and bright.

I will see if they can hold #3 for me as well. That gives me 48 hours to decide! But I will have to increase my credit card limit for that one though lol

#4 appears to have superb performance. It gets by vote.

That one is really sparkly as well! I am a little weary of the medium fluorescence though. I heard it can appear blue under sunlight due to UV
Fluorescence should not be that obvious in daylight until you get to Strong or Very Strong, and it's certainly not something to be afraid of. Many people on this forum actively seek it out, as it can lift the colour of lower colour stones and make them appear more white.

Only Strong or Very Strong have the potential to suffer any negative effects, from what I've read on here.

There are some much wiser words on some of the PS vendors' sites and also PS itself:

Have a search for 'fluorescence' and/or 'fluor' - there are loads of threads on it :)

I'm going to buck the #4 trend here and say I prefer #3.

I took another look at #4 and compared it side to side with #3 and it does look just a hint more sparkly. I read @OoohShiny post on fluorescence and it seem like it isnt a big issue. However I couldn't find any actual pictures of med blue flour diamond outside in the sun, so i'm not sure how blue it would actually glow :(2

This is going to be a hard decision for sure :wall::wall:

There is a range within each grade of fluor but a Medium should barely look blue!

Number 3 would be my choice.

I am about to pull the trigger on #3. I just noticed on the GIA report it says pear modified brilliant instead of just pear brilliant like all the others I've seen. What is modified? Should it be a concern?

note that it NEVER looks like this. This was an anomaly. Honestly med blue fluor is awesome
