Hi!

I'm new to the forum and I haven't been able to find a list of all the fancy cut diamonds (i.e. more than the usual 57/58 facets). Let's contribute to this list?

So far, I only know:

1. Gabrielle Diamond - 105 facets http://www.myproposalring.com/shopping_int_gabrielle.htm
2. Eternal Diamond - 81 facets http://www.garrard.com/engagement/eternal_cut/
3. Leo Diamond - 66 facets http://www.theleodiamond.com/
4. Celestial Diamond - 73 facets http://www.myproposalring.com/shopping_loc_celestial.htm
5. Brilliant Rose Diamond - 66 facets http://www.brilliant-rose.com/
6. Royal Brilliant Cut - 82 facets http://www.diamondsourceva.com/Education/Shape/diamonds-shape-royal-brilliant.asp

"The primary difference in the Leo is that it features 16 pavilion main facets instead of 8. The lower girdles are also cut very long and the combination ... when given the proper angles can produce a very scintillating & fiery stone." - (2002) https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/leo-diamond.3135/

Looks good heh :)

Does anyone know of more fancy cut diamonds to add to the list?

Would you consider an August Vintage Round (AVR) an "fancy" round cut? I think I would, but not sure if others would agree. :))

Most every style of diamond cut is subject to the lighting environment it is being viewed in. Likely as not, each of the stones you'll end up with on the list look super under certain circumstances and less dazzling under lighting which does not work well with them. Be careful when you see "their" special cut compared to any other cut because the lighting used will be engineered to make "their" stone look better than the one it is being compared to.

A larger problem is that some extra facet diamonds are not well cut even though they have more facets. Some are not cut in a consistent manner meaning that one may look fabulous and another is just so-so. Not every firm with a branded cut or a special cut makes every diamond into an Ideal set of parameters. Yes, they will show you their best examples in advertising, but their actual diamonds might be way off.

Some stones like the Solasfera are always finly cut to my best knowledge and I know one here in particular which I won't name which is likely to be nothing special most of the time although the advertising would tell you otherwise. I don''t believe there is any factual proof that adding facets always improves a stone. For most advertising "more" is often confused for "better" when it frequently means nothing at all.

Jubilant Crown.

The Solasfera is definitely my favorite fancy round, some of the cuts appear too busy (star129) but then again I'm a lover of rose cuts and european cuts so it's a matter of preference for sure.

I would - since they're branded stones.

If by "fancy" we mean spectacular I would add well-cut single cuts to the list, too! But, I don't think that's what OP means!

OldMiner - I've definitely heard that (variability in quality) of the Leo, for example. And I too feel too much for my eyes - in smaller sizes, anyway.. the implication, if not outright assertion, is too often that more for the sake of more is better.

ooo they look so pretty :D

I would agree that in smaller stones, there isn't a need for more facets; it would look too busy. Perhaps if one is getting a ring that is smaller than 0.7 then a standard well cute RB like the lazare would be good. But in bigger stones about 1 carat and above I would prefer more facets because the size allows for it and big stones look fake (to me at least) if they are cut normally hoho. Anyone got a Cento diamond before?
