Hi there,

No new news here. I ended up passing on the pink I posted a few months back. I sent Langerman diamonds my wish list, so we'll see if they find anything interesting that stays within budget.

Related to that, does anyone have experience insuring loose stones? Jewelers Mutual told me they wouldn't insure loose.

You might be best to start a separate thread on the forum, as your question might not be seen in here! :))

How many more stones do you think you’ll need, OP, and how long do you estimate it’ll take you to collect them? It already looks utterly spectacular - I can’t wait to see it finished!!

Sorry for the reflection on the glass. 8 new stones added. 20201109_151805.jpg

just stunning!!! cannot wait to see the finished product!!!!

I cant imagine why you couldnt get the insured as an addition to your homeowners insurance, as long as you have an appraisal?

That's what I'm doing currently. I have a rider on my homeowner's policy.

Another 40 if I go all the way around. I'm not willing to dip into my savings, so it'll be slow going.

I got a holiday gift to myself a .12 fancy deep orangy pink. Middle bottom row. I arranged by color so I can figure out what I need to balance things out. Suggestions for my next splurge are welcome. 20201223_154821.jpg

I think your new one is my favorite one yet!

Wow, this is probably the most amazing project I've seen on PS:shock:! I did a teeny tiny version of this for mother's day last year using 5 fcds in a dbty bracelet. I love it, but now I'm wondering if I should have slowed my roll and do something amazing like this!

Do all your stones have GIA certs?

It would be wonderful, since you started collecting these in 2006, if you could have them set in 2026 as the culmination of a 20-year journey. Do you think 5 years is enough for 30ish stones? The ones for the back need not be big, right?

Me too!
My loose FCDs just sit in a vault.

I guess FCD owners also vary.

It seems reasonable. I definitely didn't intend for this to become a 20 year project. I realized today that I have now spent more on this project than I made as an entire year's salary in 2006. Current total is 8.15 carats.

Shhh. Best not to think about that and just focus on the end goal! And holy figs, 8+ cts already? The final piece is going to be A. MA. ZING.

Over the course of collecting I've bought fancy colored diamonds from a ton of different vendors:
Leibish: https://www.leibish.com/
Diamond Robot: https://www.ebay.com/str/thediamondrobot
Benma Diamonds: https://www.benmadiamonds.net/
Reddiam: https://www.reddiam.com/
Denir Diamonds: https://denirdiamonds.com/en/
Seren Diamonds: https://www.serendiamonds.com/
Rothem Diamonds: https://www.ebay.com/str/rothemdiamonds
Austrailian Diamond Valley: https://www.ebay.com/str/australiandiamondvalley
Diamond Envy: https://www.ebay.com/usr/diamond_envy

My latest acquisition is my first from Langerman Diamonds:

Their sales team is excellent and the presentation was lovely. I'm used to a little plastic box versus a metal and glass box. The color looked a bit more baby pink in the vendor photo than it comes across in real life.

I love your collection and have followed this thread.

A few extra dollars on the case and you are willing to overlook inaccurate representation of the color? I'm surprised.

But: you are an expert on FCD and I know very little about them. Seems like color intensity is the main determinant of value and the easiest to fudge just a little in images...

I wasn't insinuating that the vendor misrepresented the stone. It's just hard to judge face up color from a single photo. They do have videos with most of their stones and will happily provide additional photos on request. Langerman doesn't certify their stones unless requested, so that's one of the reasons I've hesitated to purchase from them in the past. However this stone was fairly inexpensive and I knew i could return it if I don't love it.
