Does this look like light leakage?

Hi everyone,

Newcomer here with minimal knowledge on diamonds looking for some advice on this princess cut. It looks pretty nice to me overall but there's a dark area right across the center region (where the X is). Does it look like light leakage?

JA doesn't have an ASET or IS on this diamond and they can only get one if I purchase the diamond ==> https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.70-carat-e-color-vs1-clarity-sku-6753627

Also, how's the diamond above compared to this one? ==> https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.66-carat-e-color-vs1-clarity-sku-5932429 - I actually just ordered this a few days ago but there's still time to change.

Edited: Sorry forgot to include this diamond below which interests me as well ==> https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.73-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-5430600

Thanks!

This is much better. Amazing symmetry and minimal leakage under the table. Well defined, clear and chunky facets. One of the best I have evern seen. That's before I opened the AGS report. Then, I opened the report. The ASET is spectacular, with good distribution of red, green and blue, which explains what I see in the video.

The other one is alright. But it is definitely somewhat leaky around the edges of the table.

Something like this has some potential with minimal light leakage under the table.
But I think it lacks in the edge to edge brightness on the crown facets.

I like your first choice.

Looks decent. But you need the ASET. I am a bit concerned about the "X" and especially the centre. It does not look lively. There may be leakage.

Thanks! Glad I made the right decision then. I didn't know how to read ASET images (still learning) but the pattern just looked beautiful to me.

While we are on this topic, what do you think about this diamond? ==> https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.73-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-5430600

Found the ASET over here ==> https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/S73-075691345

Just as you suspected there's light leakage in the middle. Apart from that, how's the overall light performance? The corner of the table seems more like very light green with a bit of white? This is more for educational purposes as I am still learning to interpret ASET images more accurately :D

If you are looking for a slightly bigger diamond, I guess it is a reasonable choice.
The leakage in the middle is not necessarily a deal breaker.
But in terms of edge to edge brightness and leakage, your first choice is still the winner.

Hi again everyone,

There's another diamond that looks nice to me so I requested for an ASET. It looks pretty balanced to me in terms of red and green but I will need some expert views to be sure. I am unsure whether it's light leakage or just less bright around table and also the corners. Thanks!

Sorry to bump this but hoping someone who can interpret ASET throw some light! I have until tomorrow to change the diamond. Actually looking for a more similar width and length for kite setting.

Is this the 0.70 E VS1 from the first post?

@flying pig Yes it is! I spoke with the gemologist from JA and she highly recommended this as it's perfectly symmetrical size wise. I am not really convinced but she said this one is very bright and will have lots of sparkle. I can't really tell but I thought there should be some contrast for fire and scintillation from videos I saw on youtube.

If I rank, 0.66 E > 0.73 G > 0.70 E
Between the 0.66 and 0.70, there is no contest. The 0.66 E shows no mushiness at all. In fact, I am puzzled why the 0.66 E is not marketed as True Hearts. It is that good.
If you want slightly larger size go with 0.73 G. Otherwise the 0.66 E is one of the best cut princesses you will ever see.
