Does PS cause you to have DSS?

I have really been enjoying reading this thread! I came to PS looking to buy a 1/3 carat diamond. I still have that awesome 1/3 carat ACA in my original engagement ring. At the time, I thought a 1ct looked huge on me. Now, I'm looking to upgrade to a 9.5mm diamond, and I wouldn't hesitate to wear even a 10mm+! I would have thought a 10mm was way over-the-top and gaudy when I first came here. So for me, PS has definitely enabled my DSS, and, as Dreamer said, "made it seem reasonable to want" a large diamond.

I've had to be very patient in my search for this upgrade, because my budget is small for my dream size. I'm usually an instant-gratification sort of person, and I really need to try hard not to buy something to tide me over in the meantime. So DS, I too understand why you bought a replacement right away.

Well, Ms Kim, I will have to say that you may take the prize of the greatest upgrade jump! :appl: Some of us work our way up in increments, but hey, if you can be patient and go for your dream size, we are here to cheer you on! :appl:

Haha, DS, I didn't mean to imply that I didn't do it in increments! That would indeed be quite an upgrade jump to do it all at once. I did a few upgrades through WF, but not with my original stone because I'm sentimental about that one.

Anyway, I hope you are able to get your dream AVR soon! I can commiserate about coming so close to finding the right stone but having it not work out for one reason or another. I know the right diamond for you is out there! :D

When I first came to PS, yes I got hit with DSS. I think the appeal was that it showed me all the beauties that are out there since I live in a small town in the midwest with no selection. Suddenly what I had was not good enough for me and I started upgrading settings and made tons of mistakes because well...I wanted one of everything. I have wasted thousands of dollars and am ashamed to admit it now. I am happy with what I have and would rather move forward than obsess about what I want in bling land. I do enjoy looking at everyone else's beauties though!

No. Although I live in NYC, I work in the non-profit world and very few of my colleagues wear diamonds of any size. At 1.06 ct, my stone is not too small and not too big. It's just right for me.

That said, PS did cause me to want more pieces.... :naughty:

Ah, I see! Thanks so much, Kim! I think quite a few of us relate to the diamond journey! Good luck to you, too!

Yes, in some ways ignorance is bliss, because I certainly did not know what all was out there, either, before I came here! I can relate to the confusion, too, of liking too many things! But when it comes to my e-ring, I have wanted to keep a round stone since that is what I have always had. I was fine with what I had until I discovered AVR's. And my sincere goal is to replace my e-ring diamond this time for the LAST time!!! I truly do enjoy looking at all the beautiful rings and jewelry here, and I think I am pretty clear on what I actually would and would not wear. We do need to get to a place where we are content with what we have!

To me 1 ct. is a perfect and classic size wherever one is located, and you also have a gorgeous setting!
