Ever since I saw the pic of the jbEG Lynda7 that luvsdmb posted, I can't get it out of my mind. I love the diamondless halo look of it and just think what it will do for my DSS! My question is: What do you think it would look like with my round AVR?

It should. But if the color of the stone is low plat or white gold metal may make it look more yellow.

That ring looks incredible.... WOW... I think it would look amazing go for it!!

I think it would be absolutely breathtaking. I LOVE this halo and with an AVR...

Actually, I wish there were more of these to choose from out there.

I'm wondering if I put a round diamond it in, will the bezel be round as well or will the outside bezel still be square? I like the look of the square. I also like the face up look of this one posted by twosanquinehearts. Will the Lynda look similar?

You certainly can have the halo be cushion shaped, but I feel like an engraved halo might look best equal width all the way around.

The one from Twosanguinehearts is not a halo as far as I am concerned.

If it's not a halo, what would it be called?

I don't know that it has a name. It is just that the diamond is set down in that head that has edges. For example, Dreamer's diamond is in an octagonal head, but I wouldn't call it a halo either. The diamonds are set down in those heads with the edges showing and the diamond is held in with beads or little prongs.

Here are some great pics of hers in a fake April Fools thread (she isn't selling her ring!):

Blurry picture, but I just tried on that ring you pictured in May!

That's gorgeous!!!

Here is Rika's ring with a 'halo bezel' / 'bezelled halo'

David Klass or his bench does nice engraving and could make one to your own design.

That rings looks just as since on your finger diamondseeker as it did on twosanquirehearts! I think I would want to modify it a bit so that the wedding band could sit a little closer to the setting. Can you tell if the band would sit closer to the Lynda?

Thanks so much lovesdmb. How did you find that? :appl: Do you have a picture of the round on a finger? I don't think I love it as much as the squarish ring though but it's hard to tell. :((

And Rika's ring? It's just breathtakingly!

I am not sure where I got the picture of the round Lynda, it's the only one I have. Here is the cushion Lynda with a band to give you an idea of how they would sit together. I know the ring can be made to have the band sit flush, in fact when I was talking to Erica/Grace the options seem endless of what could be done.
You should email them, they are very helpful and could really help you with the questions you have. Unfortunately I can't remember who exactly to contact about the Lynda setting since they have separate business now, but I am sure they will let you know.

I also love the cushion more than the round halo, I also would love it for an oval diamond. (I should have done)

I love the look of an engraved halo around a stone, and I especially love a round in a cushion, so I think if the two were combined it would be fantastic. Plus adding an AVR to the mix?

I love this!

Thank you for posting this question! I am still in 'looking' mode and spend time pouring over solitaire settings that would work with a 2-3ct OEC without melee that would fall somewhere between modern and vintage. I am drawn to the bezels about 1/2 the time but don't think they are 'special' enough for my first big budget diamond purchase. I want more but not too much more, KWIM? But I love this concept and haven't seen the Lynda setting. I like the look of LAD Gabbie Halo but don't want pave and never thought I could work with a vendor to modify a halo with graving instead. Thanks for getting my thought processes moving.

I'm still learning but isn't an illusion setting where the stone is set into some sort of a reflective surface to literally give the illusion the stone is larger? Like a mirror type backing?

I would consider an illusion setting as one where the metal surrounding the stone gives an overall appearance of a shape different than that of the center stone. The Lynda looks like a very elegant setting for an avr.

Another similar setting you could consider or use as inspiration would be the Thea halo designed by Erika Winters which is available via jewels by grace.

I am getting some really good ideas. Maybe I could do a combination SS and JBEG around the diamond face up and have the gallery part more like the below so a wedding band would fit closer. dc87's ring is really nice and I hope she doesn't mind me posting it.
