So my partner and I are getting married and we have been doing some shopping for wedding bands. We are looking for platinum bands with diamonds. We both really love the Tiffany Lucida half eternity with Lucida diamonds, but it's only 4mm wide (http://www.tiffany.com/explore/wedding-gift-guide-wedding-bands/lucida-band-ring-GRP00260?fromGrid=1&search_params=p+1-n+10000-c+-1-s+11-r+-t+lucida%20band-ni+1-x+-lr+-hr+-ri+-mi+-pp+81+2&search=1&origin=search&searchkeyword=lucida%20band&trackpdp=search&fromcid=-1&trackgridpos=1). The sales rep told us it's unisex and comes in men's sizing but it doesn't help that there's a lady modeling the ring on the site! It looks good on us but it is a bit on the thin side. However I like the overall design of the band and absolutely love the melee diamonds with Lucida cut. I did get in touch with WhiteFlash for a quote on a similar ring in a 5mm width using Asscher diamonds in a channel setting, and received a very competitive quote with twice as much TCW included.
The only issue is - I'm not entirely sold on the Asscher cut. Whiteflash does have a similar ring that they've made in the past (https://www.pricescope.com/files/images/galleries/CustomPlatinumChannelSetAsscherWeddingBand.jpg and https://www.pricescope.com/files/images/galleries/PlatinumChannelSetAsccherWeddingBand.jpg) and the Asschers just don't seem to catch the light as well as the Lucida cut does.
I guess at this point I'm debating between just getting the Lucida because I love the cut or trying to find a custom ring with a similar cut. Is it possible to get the similar cuts (Lucida, Flanders, square radiant) in melee diamonds?
What do you guys think - is the 4mm Lucida too feminine for men (of course keep in mind we are gay!
) Or would we be better off getting a thicker band with another cut of diamonds?
Of course it were up to my partner, he would get a 1.5 Octavia Asscher solitaire in a nice masculine men's setting!
