Diamond Wedding Bands for Two Men

Just FYI about Tiffany, what you are mainly paying for is the name. Not saying that is a bad thing, if you want to say you have Tiffany then go for it. I have one myself (it was a gift). Sure you could argue quality, but its mostly name, status, reputation.

But if you are looking at getting the most bang for you buck, skip the famous names like Tiffany, Cartier, etc. Their mark up is sooooo crazy. Lets say a diamond is worth $800. A regular jeweler would mark that up at least 100 percent or even more so your price would be 1,600. OK that's typical. But that same diamond at Tiffany would probably cost double that closer to 3,000.

That is why White Flash could offer you such a "great deal" Basically any non name brand can do that. And no it really dose not hold its value if some day you need to sell it...OK maybe a little, but not much. That 3,000 ring would only fetch you 800 bucks if you are lucky.

Don't want to take away from what Craighnt is saying at all. I bought a few bezeled BGD bands for under the price of a single tiffany bezeled band. They are absolutely beautiful.

But

Sometimes it's the entire tangible experience that adds to your love of something and that's okay too. Some of my favorite everyday rings came from overpriced retail stores and I cherish them because they are beautiful but even more than that my Dh and I had the experience of getting them together, trying on, laughing etc... I am all for ordering online but it is also very okay to get something you loved because you felt it, tried it on, looked at each other and said love!

Of course it were up to my partner, he would get a 1.5 Octavia Asscher solitaire in a nice masculine men's setting!

Funny, I just got one of those and I just posted about our set of Octavia rings.
Did you see my thread or is this just an coincidence?

No it was not a coincidence - we definitely saw your post and my partner thinks your ring is beautiful! But I promised him that such a ring would make a great anniversary present down the road as our budget is not quite compatible with such a gorgeous ring at this point!

Have you tried anything on in person? If you're in NY, I take it, there are a lot of shops to sample some styles.

I'm just asking because I like feminine stuff and really liked an ornate Tacori ring I had seen in pictures, but when I tried it on in person, it didn't look right on my hand/finger. I realized that I can pull off wearing a floral scarf or other items that are girly, but when it comes to jewelry, the more basic classic-look is better.

We have visited many jewelry stores and tried on all sorts of rings in person. We are not in NY but we do have some nicer jewelry stores in the area. We do have a Tiffany's here which is where we found the Lucida (and had them get it in our sizes). We have looked at multiple designers and I am really partial to the Lucida half eternity style although my partner is still undecided. I prefer bands from 4-5.5 mm and he likes bands between 5-7 mm. We also have spent some time looking at loose diamonds and we both really love the Asscher - we like the unique, classic cut while being more subtle than a princess or radiant cut.

After doing some more research into custom jewelry, I found that Quest is actually a drivable distance from us so we made a trip there over the weekend. We met with Huan who was super helpful and offered us some very competitive quotes on custom rings. He was able to offer a great price on the ring that I know I want (half eternity channel set similar to the Lucida) but a wider width - about 5.2 mm. The TCW would be double the Tiffany ring and it would actually be quite a bit cheaper, plus it would be wider and custom-made to exactly how we want it to look. My partner is considering getting a matching ring to me since he likes the 5.2 mm width, but we are also looking at getting him an Asscher solitaire ring (semi-tension set) with a single diamond carat weight to match the TCW of my ring. We'll see - I think we may go ahead and order my ring and see how the wax model looks before he decides. Of course I explained to him that a nice Asscher solitaire would be a great companion piece for an anniversary gift further down the road (and after I can save up some more money for such a ring!)

Either way, we're going to go back to Tiffany and take another look at the Lucida just to make sure we like the overall style, although I don't know how I could pass up this deal at Quest. I was very impressed with their facilities and their customer service and I think it would be a pleasure doing business with them!
