These are the three stones I am choosing from and would really love everyones opinion. Thanks. I am personally leaning toward the middle stone the .84 E VS2.

.90 H SI1 (Left) .84 E VS2 (Middle) .90 H VS2 (Right)

It might just be me - or the way the photographs were taken - but I think I see inclusions in the two H's. They seem to be under the table in both - the left one has the larger inclusion. Are they eye clean?

I'm not sure I have not asked much about the far left one mainly because from the picture it looks more like a modern cut. When I looked at the inclusion plots for both H diamonds I can see them in the picture. Both diamonds have inclusions around the center of the diamonds. Good Eye!! Good thing I am leaning toward the .84.

Here are the dimensions for tyty333.

.84ct E VS2

5.76 x 5.34 x 3.70 polish ex sym good

.90ct H VS2

5.93 x 5.56 x 3.79 polish ex sym good

Both diamonds have crown angles greater than 40 degrees

I don't see any reason not to pick the E VS2 if that is the one you like the best! Based only on the photo it looks nice. Can't be more definitive without a video, ASET or other information, though.

I am waiting on a video and the aset machine is currently down. Now I need to find a setting torn between whether to do a simple solitaire setting with claw prongs or go the pave type setting??? So many choices.....

Are these from Leon?

I don't personally liek ASETs much because most images are not taken very well, I don't find them very helpful, but the video would be nice to see, for you to judge.

... well an ERD ASET definitely won't help.

They all look nice - nice facet patterning. What does Mark say? Without more info... if you like the E then go for the E! (by go for I mean have it sent out to see in-person, and confirm that you like what you see IRL..) The size difference between that and the H VS2 is visible when they're side by side as they are in that pic, but not striking - I very very much doubt you'd note any difference IRL with the two stones set, esp if you don't have them set the same way and side by side.

Why does it seem that marks Aset machine is always down?? ;-) It seems that Aset pictures don't do much for cushion cut diamonds why is that? Also does anyone have any experience with settings from ERD? I have searched the forum and it seems that not many people have ERD settings.

Mark does not liek ASET from what I have heard on PS, and so only offered them reluctantly at times, and even then the images were poor. I think an ASET from whiteflash, BGD, or GOG is very useful. Those companies, and some others, really value the technology and have taken the time to create a really good set up for taking ASETs. But ERD and, from what I have seen, JA to an extent don't take them as often and don't have such a good set up, so the resulting images are really not very useful. ASET images are only as good as the photographer/set up anyways.

I would personally just trust Mark's eye for the initial selection, then see it in person to make my own mind up.

Lots of people have settings by ERD! You need to do a better search. ;)) Since I am cheritable :rodent: I looked for you. Some threads:

I think (properly taken) ASET photos are very helpful tools for all shapes - itncl cushions, the ASET picture is giving you the same information regardless of what shape we're talking about, afterall, and that information is no more or less reliable or informative for an RB or an antique cushion!

BUT ASET only tells you about light return at one specific stone/scope angle, unless you have a video ASET through a variety of tilt angles which would help estimate what you might see IRL when you look at the stone on your finger...

Thanks so much for the links. I am really liking the solitaire setting winter15 has in the first link. It looks so simple and timeless. Is it possible to get a hold of other ps members??? I really appreciate all the help you guys have given me. Its good to have honest opinions when your making such a large purchase.

You cannot contact other members, but if you send the link to ERD and say you want that setting, they can likely tell you which it was.

All three diamonds should have the same plot and are "chunky" cushions. Honestly, the three look the same to me with the exception of the one on the left with seemingly visible inclusions. Go for the E VS1 :)

if it were me I'd choose the one on the right. mostly I like the size and I prefer the facets on that one than on the left. the middle is obviously a whiter stone though. good luck choosing!
