Hi All,

Thank you so much in advance. I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the amount of choices out there and the huge range in prices. I have done my research on the 4Cs but reading the posts here there seems to be a bit of art to it beyond just reading the report/certificate.

Location: UK or USA (travel back and forth)
Cut: Brilliant cut cushion
Carat: 4 to 6 c
Budget: Flexible, looking for quality diamond (sub 5k USD)
Shape: Prefer a square shape or slightly elongated

Thank you!

Welcome @CanadianAbroad!

A cushion cut is considered a fancy cut, and a certificate won't tell you about cut quality at all. I consider cushions difficult to judge with online videos, and you'll see that most of our advice is given to round brilliants.

Where have you looked? Loosegrowndiamond? Brian Gavin? Whiteflash? If you come to the US and want to see diamonds in person, and are you familiar with the ASET scope? That is often used to help judge cut quality on a fancy.

I bought my 2.17ct elongated cushion through Brian Gavin a few years ago with the help of Paul at beyond4cs.com. He helps vet fancies.

But if you find something that catches your eye, please post here, and people will help. I'm just not able to do a cushion search at this time. Maybe someone else can. Hope some of this helps!

Hey, thanks for the reply and the help.

I’ve currently been reading a lot of Paul’s articles on beyond4cs. Does he provide a service where he will vet / find diamonds? I could not find anything on his blog again this service.

I’ve mostly looked on loosegrowndiamonds and brilliance as found they seem to have the best price. I’m not familiar with the ASET scope but looks like it might be worth picking up and doing a little investigation in London/Miami.

Thanks for your reply and help :)
