i''m just hoping you BF doesn''t wait too long to propose once he gets it. I seriously cannot wait to see your ring...
Hey MrsS! You and me both! I really don''t think he''ll be able to hold out too long. I busted him last night in his den scrutnizing over the design sketches and lookt at Leon''s site! So lucky to have a guy who likes jewelry as much as do!!

I just popped in to say that that stone is over-the-top gorgeous!! Yay!!

It''s beeeeautiful, CrookedRock. By chance could you post the cert?

It looks like it could be Cehra''s stone''s big brother... I think hers was a J as well, and I think I see that elongated rectangular culet...

Personally I''m glad you went super chunky. Can''t wait to see the ring.

Best,
Jeff

I didn''t get to read this thread until now from beginning to end...but I''m sorry I''m chiming in so late! Your cushion is TDF!!! It''s gorgeous and really hard to believe it''s a J. You''re super lucky that you were able to go visit GOG and ERD, as well as have a 3.5 hour brainstorming / design session with Leon.

I can''t wait to see the finished product. It''s going to be breathtaking!

Bem~ Thanks so much!!! I hope you don''t mind if I continue to stare at your beauty until I get mine!!

Cutey~ I know I did not believe it was a J. I was convinced he had grabbed the wrong stone from the case, it was that good! We looked at a lot of I''s even, that looked so yellow to me, it''s just a matter of finding a good one I guess! And both Mark and Jon were fantastic. I would highly reccomend either of them! And Leon, I love that guy, he was fun! I enjoyed all the time we spent with him, I feel very lucky!

Jeff! I was hoping you''d see this! Actually Mark compared it to yours, and that kinda made me do a little dance, bc yours is fabulous! Mark also gave you credit for being the Cushion Cut trend starter here, so thank you for that!!
I am going to try to post the cert, but it''s a pdf and I have to figure this out. I am pretty sure it is going to show up huge, let me see...

hope this works... probably going to be huge... sorry in advance!

Oh wow it worked! I impressed myself!!! Hope this helps you solve the some more of the mystery of the cushion Jeff!

CrookedRock,

Is your stone a vintage? Not sure if you mentioned if it was or wasn''t.
I just got an email back from Mark, and my suspicions were correct. This is a newly cut stone. It''s funny bc when I told a friend I was looking for an antique cut cushion ( not necessairly antique in age though) she told me that it was weird to wear someone eles''s diamond... LOL

You realize the unveiling of this ring/stone in a few weeks is like the anticipation of something akin to the birth of Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt''s kids. We are all DYING for when those pictures come out!!!

OMG! You crack me up!! I don''t think everyone is dying to see it. YOu are in a different category bc you got to see it! And besides they have enough kids already... This is my first Engagement ring!!! (and last!) LOL!!

What an amazing stone, CrookedRock! I just saw this thread and the other one about Leon''s answers to some questions you and (others?) had. I''m with the others -- I can''t wait to see the ring itself! Please tell your boyfriend to hurry up and propose (when the ring arrives). You have people waiting...

I can relate to that!! While I meant to give my now-fiancé then-boyfriend full reign in terms of orchestrating his proposal, once my Leon was in his possession I basically gave him a window of time after which I thought that I might go ballistic if not allowed to see it on my finger - the window was less than 24 hours!
2.gif

I cannot wait to see this creation. You''re off to a very good start with that stone and Leon at the helm!!

Bem and Zoe... I hear ya. He needs to hurry this little project up for my sake and sake of those waiting to see this thing!!! I am sitting here trying to do the math on where 6 weeks puts us... I gues It brings us to the end of April. The only thing that scares me is that we booked a trip to go to Nantucket for my Birthday, which is Memorial Day Weekend. I can''t imagine him waiting til then, but who knows. And I have told him that I would prefer he didn''t do it on a Bday or holiday, so we''ll see. He says he has had a plan for a long time, which goes back to before we booked Nantucket... I just really can''t figure out where, what, when, why, how? But clearly he listens to what I want, so I am sure he''ll make it fantastic, and hopefully quick! But you are right Bem, as much as I don''t want to bug him about it, it''s gonna be tough not to!

I think I am going to have him hide all the paper work and sketches after this week, so that I can try to learn to wait patiently without staring at it every hour!

CrookedRock!! You found your baby!! I have been on business travel and dying to find out how your adventure went! I did FINALLY find your post in the DH, and responded....I am so excited for you and your diamond is to DIE for...are you planning on setting it East to west? or No? I wasn''t sure what you finally decided on?

I am SOOOOO happy to hear that your meeting with Leon went well, I have been a little nervous based on what I have read, but his work is outstanding, so I can totally deal with a little "tuide" if necessary- it sounds based on your experience that he was quite pleasent...tell me, what does he look like, what''s his office like, and are the rings in his books totally different than what''s on his webite? Dying for the Leon details...as a side note, I have a girlfriend who is also in the process of getting engaged soons, and I recently showed her what I was looking for- she immediatly yelped, and said " that is EXACTLY what I have been looking for, and I have to get it!!" I was so bummed that I had shared my idea with her

Now I sort feel like I am back to the drawing board
20.gif
...oh well, don''t mean to change the subject, but had to share...

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your cushion, and cant wait to see the finished product!!

Cali Thank you thank you!
Leon is awesome, I swear to you I would have drinks with him, loved him!!

Not sure why everyone thinks he has a ''tude. I didn''t get that at all. Bf and I tend to be pretty easy going fun loving people, and we''re young too, so maybe he thought he could loosen up, who knows... I would def reccommend going there though and seeing him if you want to come up with something totally different. He has 2 books of pics that he showed us, and there are many more in the books then on the site, but in general most bases are covered on the site.
I don''t really know how to describe him, I think there is a pic on his site somewhere, but I remember seeing him and immediately thinking he looked different, and I hate to say this, but maybe slightly older in person. He''s probably 40, I don''t know, dark hair, avg. build about 5''10 or so... His office it actually an office that used to belon to a very famous architect a long time ago. We actually took pics in front of the door (lame I know!) but I feel weird about posting them. He basically has his name in big silver squared letters next to a really cool old wood door... The office inside is not fancy by any means but kinda neat and rustic, and we liked it a lot!
Did I miss anything? LOL

Haha...no, I think you covered all the basis...for some reason, and I know this is terrible, but I pictured him with grey hair, with sort of a "geppato" feel, a real grumpo craftsman with a heavy accent (what kind, I don''t know, just some sick portrayal that entered my mind!)...silly, I know! He sounds lovely, I am excited to meet him! Did he actually draw up anything for you? I was confused on how he conducted meetings, as his website says that he would rather meet with you once he has already provided you with a quote, but I was hoping to meet with him to discuss my ideas- THEN get a quote, which is what I believe you did??

Again, super excited for you girly!!

Why are none of us working today>? LOL!

Anyway!
No grey hair, maybe a lil bit of salt&pepper starting... God I hope he isn''t on here, I feel like such a loser talking about him!
Yes!!! He drew tons for us. We went through more designs than I can count! And every pic I took him, he ripped apart, it was kinda funny! I do have a few great sketches from different angles of what the ring will be like. I never did get a quote from him before I went, and when I got there he did ask me if I had one, but I didn''t and it didn''t matter. I think normally he can quote you while you are there and then email you the exact paperwork breaking it down, but for us he said he couldn''t even ballpark it. Yah, no lie, that was a lil scarey! We did get it yesterday, and it is a decently higher than what we had expected at the high end. I told the bf we could consider something else and his response was kinda funy... Yah, why don''t we take your amazing diamond and plop it in a $500 solitaire setting.... Smart @ss! But he''s right, that thing deserves a good home!

Haha...I know! I was thinking that same thing! Why aren''t we working?? hmmm...At least I am not alone!

The setting thing is totally true! It does need a good home, and with Leon at the helm, it will be nothing less of spectacular!

crooked, wow, I'm speechless. I found this thread in searching for something. That cushion is to die for, and HUGE, in a good way.

AND in a Leon? Be still my heart. I can't wait to see this. I am ordering more smelling salts as we speak.

you know i love Leon, but this isn''t the first time I''ve heard someone say that. is there any other designer our there he repects that he wouldn''t rip apart? i think the fact he so easily rips apart other designs might be where he gets some of that *artist* reputation.

anyway, he does have an amazing eye and skill so there is no doubt any ring he does will be fabulous and of heirloom quality. I hope the time passes quickly for you and i can''t wait to see what the two of you came up with for the design. with bem''s and diamondnut''s recent leon''s and soon yours, we really will need smelling salts around here.

I haven''t read that before, but I don''t doubt it. I''m going to show you which pic it was that he kinda ripped apart that shocked me, bc I think its Mara''s Joe Escobar pic. (I hope you don''t mind that I took it, but I love it!)

Ok I hope this works... Look at the edge of the halo, and you will see that it is a little uneven. I would have never noticed it had he not said something. If his work wasn''t so meticilous I would feel differently about him criticizing others, but the truth is, his work is amazing! Even If it is a piece you don''t care for it is hard to argue the quality or the workmanship...

Ellen! thanks again!! I was wondering why some of the veterans ignored my exciting news, I was starting to think that I was unpopular or something... LOL

I''ve been on here for what feels like forever, and it''s just so nice to finally be able to share. Without all of you it would have nere happened, so thanks for that!!

I can honestly say that if the bf waits too long on this proposal there may be a lynching done by PS''ers and my girlfriends!

yes, I can see that. it''s funny though b/c i can pull up some Leon pics where things are a little off or uneven too
2.gif
gotta love the 40x magnification. It''s totally fine though and I for one would be glad that he does see those types of things and is picky b/c if something of his came back a little off, he''d be more inclined to fix it. and of course, what he is criticizing is in a one on one private conversation and it''s not like he''s openly blasting other designs publicly. It''s just interesting to me, that''s all, and like i said, i wonder if there are any designers/designs out there that he does respect. i honestly don''t know

Aww. I "think" I remember seeing this thread, but just thought it was someone asking a question, so I never actually looked in here, until today. I would imagine that''s what others may have thought/done too.
