Out of curiosity, I thought this deserved a thread of its own.

I heard about this correlation between one's shoe size and ring finger size, which actually worked for me (shoe size 8.5=ring finger size 8.5) and everyone else here at work, along with most of our clients whom I've asked ever since.

However, here at PS this seems to not hold true for most people!

So since we have a large pool of members who know their finger size, I thought we could all list if this holds true for them or not, allowing me to have a better idea if I should probably stop advising people this!!

Thanks in advance to everyone who decides to share!

Doesn't work for me. Shoe size 6 1/2, ring size 5 1/2.

not even close 8) 7.5 shoe, 4 ring finger - and 5'5 and 115

and my best friend has a (squishy!) size 6 ring finger, 7 shoe, is 5'10" and weighs probably 110 soaking wet... no correlations there!

*edited - I don't wear a 7.4 shoe..

Doesn't work for me - my shoe size is 6, and my ring finger size is 4.5.

Shoe size 7-7.5

Ring size 4.25

I wear a size 6.5 shoe and a 8.5 ring, even when I was super skinny, pre baby days, I wore a size 5.5 shoe and and a size 6.75 ring.

Waayyyy off for me and my husband! My shoe size is 11, ring size 5.5. DH's shoe size is 10.5, ring size 8.5. But, we both have large feet for our height/body size.

61/2 shoes, 5 ring size :twirl:

it works if I use my middle right hand finger and it is the same as my shoe size. ::)

shoe size 9, ring size 5.

FI's shoe size is 12 and his ring size is 8-8.25. I think the rule is subtract 4!

Definitely off for me and my SO. Me: size 6 ring and 8-8.5 size shoe. Him: 7.5 ring (long skinny fingers) and 11 or 12 size shoe.

Nope, no correlation here either. Size 6 to 6.5 in shoes, size 4.5-5.5 in rings. DH wears a 11ish in shoes, and a 7 in rings. When I was in my mid 20s and still wore a size 2 (sigh- no longer) I wore a 2.5 in rings and 5.5 in shoes.

It doesn't work for us, either: shoe = 8 ring finger = 5 shoe = 10 ring finger = 8.

Not to be crass, but that makes me think about another urban myth out there that is particularly pervasive: relating the size of one part of the anatomy to another - and that is not true either (clinically - not an opinion).... I wonder if Myth Busters would be interested in the ring finger myth?

I'm also pretty far off, 4.5 ring size, 8.5 shoe size, ... but my fingers are really narrow for my height and weight (I'm 5'8" and a squishy 155 lbs)

 omg that would be hilarious!!

soo yeah reallyyy off here on PS!! I thought there would be a good mix for both but definitely not yet! I'll check back later and see if we get at least one person that it works for except me!! This really threw me off :loopy:

My shoe size is 9 and my ring size is 6.
Both pretty big but not too close to each other. I wish both numbers were smaller LOL!

My dh's shoe size is 9.5 and his ring finger is 9.5 so ding ding ding!! We have a winner

Doesn't work for me either. Shoe size 6.5, ring size 4.25

Shoe size 7-7.5

Ring size 4.25
Same here

Husband's shoe and ring size are both the same (I can't recall if they are 13 or 14 though)

I actually know very little female friends who have ring and shoe sizes the same. I once asked after I heard that and only one had the same (7.5 for both). Most have a much larger shoe size than ring size.

I think you have enough examples... but in case you want more,

I'm a size 7 in shoes and 3.5 on my ring finger.

No correlation for me, either. My feet are gigantic for a girl (11-11.5 size shoe!) but my fingers are long and skinny - I wear a size 6.25 ring.

My feet are long and thin, and so are my hands: I'd bet there's more of a correlation there than between length of foot and width of finger. For the record, 9.5 feet, 5.25 ring finger.

my shoe size and ring size are the same. both 8's

Size 8 or 8.5 shoe and 4.5 ring finger (the only tiny part of me)

Maybe its a ratio thing. My feet are 8.5, ring is 4.25.

Doesn't work for me, either.

Shoe size: 9.5 or 10
Ring size: 5.5

I wonder if this is more likely to be true for men. If this were true for women, all of us tall ladies would have pretty big ring sizes. I'm 5'10", I need some big feet to keep upright! Fingers, not so much. :cheeky:

agreed! or crazy small! size 3.5 feet? I don't think so!

Nope sorry doesnt work for me either. My shoe size is 7.5 and my finger size is 4.5

This will simply not work for women because the average ring size must be around a 6 since that is the size most stock rings come in. And we know the average woman's foot is larger than a 6, so you shouldn't find many at all with the same size for both!

For the record, my shoe size is 8.5 and ring size is 5.5.

Me: shoe 7.5-8, ring 5.25 but would be smaller if my knuckles weren't so huge, sometimes I can get a size 5 on my finger but it's not comfortable to take on and off.

DH: shoe 11, ring 6.25. His ring was originally 6.75 but recently he showed me how it was nearly falling off--shrinking husband, yikes! I can now wear hubby's wedding ring as a RHR.

WAIT!!!!! - I do wear a ladies sz 6.5, but a CHILD'S SZ 4 AND a size 4.25 ring!
