I just got this faceted hydrophane welo opal from Dan Stair in the mail today. It's 1.72 carats, 8.48 mm. It is even prettier in real life. My almost three year said it looks like sparkly rainbow clouds!

That is so precious! And the stone is very pretty!

Yep, I subscribe, that's how I happened to see the oval..I'd just been on his site the night before playing around and then woke up yesterday to an email update! I thought all the pricing had been changed already?

Lanbo setting came for my mint garnet heart. He did a fantastic job, as this is not a standard callibrated size heart, and it's so hard to get heart settings done properly. So both MTG and I are excited to get to the jewelers to get our gems set!!

Attached is the photo I sent him with the stone and measurements, which I think helped.

TL: That ring is going to be gorgeous!!! I love mint garnets!!!

Thanks Faegrace, Baby Nurse and Packrat! I am setting it in a pendant as I cannot imagine keeping a ring dry at all times. Opal is special to me as it was my late mother's birthstone and they always remind me of her. Just wish I could actually be giving it to her Any pendant ideas for me?

Yep. They were actually my wish from his Wish List option.

Hmmm.., opal pendant settings. Do you have a style preference? Two things that come to my mind immediately are a very modern setting, with sleek lines and a lot of movement, or a very retro look. Not quite a lavalier but some embellishments that make it versatile enough to wear with jeans or something much nicer.... Do you want to keep it solo or add other gems as accents to the pendant?

So, what style pendant are you thinking for that pretty rainbow of color???

I have never been much of a modern jewelry gal, something retro would be much more my speed! If it has prongs, I feel like yg would be best, but I am otherwise clueless!

I remember being sad missing out on this one when he posted it, so I'm glad it worked out in the end! I don't really have many non-blue spinels, lol, so this will be nice! And I couldn't resist the price.

Oooh, so you're the one who purchased that pretty peridot! I am refraining from calling the sapphire a pad because I haven't had it tested. I actually took out all my CS family today and looked at them in skylight sun. Silly, I know. Any design thoughts on the opal pendant yet?
