Cat lost in wall/ceiling/crawl space

I'm so happy that Oreo is safe and sound. Oreo will adjust. If I recall you got Oreo as a kitten when she appeared on your doorstep. Kittens and puppies are fearless and adapt to change seamlessly. The older they get the harder it is for them to accept to any change. She'll be fine, she just needs time and as Missy said your bond is still there. She's probably just a bit p*ssed off at you right now.

When we got our middle furbaby (we call her our Siamese cat dog) as a 4.5 month old pup she walked in and immediately took ownership of the house. She acted as if she always lived with us. We bought a new sofa last year and wouldn't you know it, she was upset with us for months.

My cat is fascinated by a flushing toilet, too! She peers over the side or sits on the tank and looks down. The cycle had just about ended in this picture (didn't want to take a picture of waste).

ETA: Wow, easy to post pics on the new board format, and, eek, so big!

Checking in to see if Oreo is settling in tonight.

Yes, how is Oreo doing this evening? We love all things Oreo, no detail too minute!

Well, not a lot to report. She's still hiding. Not eating, no trips to the litter box. I'm going to pick up the Feliway at PetSmart tomorrow. She followed me around this afternoon but retreated back into hiding after I left for a few hours. Gives me the sads :(

I know it's hard :( But I promise she'll get used it and be ok soon enough. She loves you, and you love her--she's just being a grumpy pussy (sorry, couldnt help it).

Aww, she'll come around. It takes time to get used to new surroundings. Good thing she followed you around today. Here's hoping for the same or better tomorrow. Try to stay upbeat and positive so she can feel it coming from you. Maybe put some music on low and sing to comfort both of you.

She came out for a bit to be with you, even though she's freaked out. That's love. She's being a brave kitty for you (mine usually spend the whole first day in a new place under a bed, no matter what treats are offered). She'll probably use the litter tonight. Most cats only go once a day. Maybe have a nibble or two too once you're asleep.

Tomorrow will be better.

God if only you could give a cat a glass of wine. They would de-funk right quick and be fearless again.

You know what I love? How they will zip up a tree or bounce off furniture or, you know, act like acrobats in general and never freak out, but change their environment in the least and it is like you tried to kill them and they'll never forget it.:wall:

Did they take the eyeroll emoties away? Dang it. I guess that's a small price to pay for the addition of the ability to use gifs.

Ah yes, no more eye roll emoji...

Hahaha that's not aggro enough!!! That little emoji was just enough to really send someone into a dither!

You know which emoji I'd like to kill off? Passive aggressive waves guy. :wavey: It's like saying "Bye, stupid!" I'd rather just someone call me stupid than break out that bad Larry constantly (and really, it's like some people have their finger glued to it).

Oreo strolled in during my gif fest to scratch my nice wingback chair and slink back into hiding. Lil' shit :cheeky:

What? The wavey is passy assy? NO WAY.
Like this?
raw

It's like, ugh, wavey guy

Aww... poor Oreo. Happy she is safe.

Can you tempt her with some fresh fish. I get salmon pieces and nuke them for a minute and them let them cool, crumble it up and then bribe my kids occasionally.

Hmm I think the wavey guy can be just that. Wavey guy and friendly and loving. It really depends on who uses it and how don't you think? I use it often to wave bye to the NIRDIs when I am saying bye for now. But of course when someone uses it in the passive aggressive way (and I think we know who that offending poster is LOL but fortunately I have her on IGNORE so I don't have to deal with her unpleasant behavior anymore) it becomes offensive. But again it completely depends on who is using it and how.

Back to OREO! How is she doing? I am sending more calming and happy loving vibes her way and hoping she acclimates to her new surroundings soon. (((HUGS))).

Hi Elliot, hope that today will be a better day for you and Oreo. I do think it's good that she followed you around yesterday. I hope that the Feliway helps. I know you must be so sad. Please keep the updates coming. Lots of love and dust for you and Oreo.

LOL. No-one does wounded passive aggression better than a cat. It's a good thing we love them!

A certain someone tinkled in the litter box overnight! So at least I know she is drinking the waters I put out around the house. Last night was long though. Around 3am she hopped into bed with me and pressed up against my back. I rolled over and gave her cheek and chin scratches for a bit. Then she got up, gave me a a very lionesque forehead to forehead head bump, and now she's back in the linen closet.

It seems she has lost her taste for the fishy cat foods and prefers chicken and turkey, so I need to make another food run when I go out for the Feliway. No interest in the toys or the cardboard boxes yet, but I've got them on standby.

And missy I may have been somewhat harsh in my assessment of wavy guy. There is a definitely a difference in context for how people use it! I will never reject a well meaning friendly wavy guy

Sounds like progress to me! Happy to hear she hopped in bed with you. I am sure that things will continue to get better.

That's great progress overnight, Elliot!! Reestablishing your relationship in a new environment is moving along well.

I'm so glad you found her, hopefully she will be fine it's just going to take time for her to get over her trip, for her to adjust to a new house and for her to get used to not being where she was, that is all.

That is great news. I love the observation above (haven't figured out the quote function yet) that it takes love on Oreo's part to have come out so soon in the move, to see you and reassure you. Well, that and some warmed-up DELI TURKEY! Heehee, there's NOTHING the Westies wouldn't do for deli turkey! I went out and got some Applegate roasted turkey breast and made the Westies happy yesterday thanks to this thread!!

I bet every day is going to make Oreo more comfortable and pretty soon, your new place will be Home Sweet Oreo Home.

Yay! Sounds like she has to let you know of her displeasure with you, but also loves you so much she can't stay away completely. Kinda like a little kid who's mad at their Mom but wants to stay pretty close nonetheless.

I got a visitor!!!! She's back in the closet now, but I got a lovely few nudges, a brief sit on my lap, and several low toned grrrr purrs. In true PSer form I got a "candid" ring shot in as well ;)

Oh I love that face!

Sounds like a purr-fect day so far. Nice wood floor!
