I used to be able to find threads SO much easier before the new PS look. I cannot for the life of me find the 'three stone' SMTB thread. Can anyone link me to the 3 stone SMTB thread?

And if anyone has any advice for searching for threads with the new PS, please share! :wavey:

Thanks SimoneDi, those links are super helpful!! I actually found a 3 stone thread but it wasn't the one I am looking for, darn it!

Yup, it's for the 1.6 BG stone =)2. I'm almost all set but I'm having side stone indecision!

That is such an exciting project!=)2 I just went through the same dilemma btw! It took me 6 months to decide (slow much :lol-2:). I realize that people have different preferences, but do you envision more of a true 3 stone (Tiffany style 1:2:1 ratio) or a three stone where the side stones are smaller, accent stones?

I'm looking for somewhere in the middle, lol. I think I'd like around 0.4 carat side stones, but currently there aren't any in stock. There are 0.3 sides which I've purchased, but since this ring is not meant to ever, ever be changed, I'm waffling :confused2:.

Honestly, if I were you, I would stick with the 30pt. They are sizable enough to provide that true 3 stone look with your 1.6 center, yet they will also allow it to shine and not be overpowered.
I went from thinking about going with 70pt sides each, to 50pt, to 30pt to 23pt! The 30pts were a really good size, but I gravitated toward the smaller ones. If you are unsure if you want to wait, I would visit some local jewelers and just see how you like the proportions with 40pt sides. Super exciting either way! Can't wait to see the end results :)

Thanks SimoneDi =)2. I've poured over pictures and I was also able to see some 40 point sides in person and liked those the best. To me the 30 pointers looked like they didn't know if they wanted to be accent stones or if they were trying to be true side stones, LOL. We shall see what happens as nothing is set in stone :P2.

Oh I am glad that you found what YOU like best! If I can spy for stones on your behalf, please let me know lol

I really hope this is okay to share, but Liza from WF had sent me comparison shots between .3s and .4s for my 8.45mm stone. I've seen a lot of us talking about this combination lately and thought maybe
they could be helpful? One is taken slightly further away, but the general idea is there. I think I drove WF nuts trying to decide, but I had the same thought as you-are .3s more of an accent stone or a side stone? And did it matter?:) With the setting I choose, I think they needed to be more of a side stone, hence me going with .4s.

ETA: This stone may have actually been 8.4mm, but same carat weight-2.26. My stone was still with me at the time.:)

I'm a fan of the Tiffany proportions, which are the dimensions of my Brian Gavin 3-stone - I understand you aren't, but I still like bigger than .3/1.6/.3 - I know it's crazy and makes NO logical difference, but sometimes people have posted a "3-stone" ring on here and I've thought "Really? Pretty ring, but I'd call those side-stones."

I like the bigger (.4) ones. I agree that the small ones look more like accents than a full 3 stone.

@Siamese Kitty beautiful combos! I am happy that you found what you liked!
I went through a similar process and compared so many side stones to my center, initially I leaned toward larger side stones and completely disregarded the smaller ones, but in the end, I found that larger sides stones overpowered my center, at least to me. However, all and any 3 stone rings I find gorgeous!

SimoneDi - Aw you are too sweet to offer to spy stones for me!! I move fast....I found a great matching pair of 0.42's from WF so those have been purchased :mrgreen2:. But if I ever need sleuthing help I will let you know, lol.

Siamese Kitty - Ooh I love comparison photos, thank you for those! Gosh, I am easily swayed because I love both sizes with your beautiful center stone!! I almost like the smaller 0.3's better with a larger stone than mine (1.6 carat), like over 2 carats. I saw your gorgeous 3 stone on the Show Me your ACA thread and it's magnificent and perfect :rolleyes2:.

Motownmama - I love your three stone so much!!! I considered using sapphire sides, but decided to do sapphires in a band instead. The 2:1 is a great look, probably too blingy for me personally but no one can deny it's beauty!

Ariadne_Theia - Thanks for your input! What size are your stones if you don't mind me asking? You have a gorgeous ring in your avatar!!

Thank you!
My center is 1.39 and the sides are .38

IMG_7245.JPG IMG_7246.JPG IMG_7247.JPG @JDDN here are some that I took at Tiffany. Center was a 2.5 carat. Sides 1.25. I love this look and I would do this if I could. I know you want smaller sides which will allow you to focus on the center a bit more. Your three stone with that amazing E will be awesome. I can't wait.

The ring in the picture is my old threestone. Center is 1.75 and sides are .45 each.

I've set my ring twice. First is my 1.75 with .63/.64 sides (current ). Second is the same 1.75 with .45 each.

Beautiful ring @rocks!

Thank you! I'm happy with it. The sides are super ideal and an almost perfect match.

Originally I was going to reset with ideal .84/.85..."Tiffany proportions", but it was just alittle too much for me.the sides would have extended beyond my finger....something to think about.

The current proportions are beautiful and accentuate the center stone better, which I personally find appealing. It is gorg!

Ariadne_Theia - Thank you for the stone sizes, I think your ring is just perfect .

LLJ - You can seriously pull off so much bling and it looks amazing on you!! That Tiffany 3 stone looks beautiful on you, thank you for those shots!

Rocks - Seriously, what a gorgeous 3 stone you have!! I adore those proportions so much.

So a little update....I'm having some problems securing my side stones from the vendor and it looks like I may not get them. I also needed to switch jewelers so I'm starting to feel a little discouraged. The center stone has been through a LOT of change and indecision over the years and every time I feel like I've nailed down its fate something precludes it! I don't know what that is all about, but it does take the fun out of it. But seriously, with everything going on in the world this is a very insignificant and silly issue =)2.

@JDDN would you mind sharing who is making the ring?
I am sorry that you are going through some difficulties with the side stones, but I hope it all gets resolved soon. Think of it in a positive way, as if faith is giving you more time to decide because it is a forever decision ;) and you are so right, there are so many things in the world that we should be really upset/concerned about (like 3 active hurricanes :eek2:)

IMG_5427.JPG IMG_5428.JPG This threestone is my cousin's (yes, it's a family thing....we all have them...all diamonds, sapphires and diamonds, diamonds and sapphires). Hers is 1.65 center with .57/.58 sides. Ring is a size 6 1/4.

SimoneDi - You are so right....I think this is the universe making me take some time to think about it. Until I sort out what's happening with this ring, I'd like to keep the jeweler private. As soon it's a go, I will divulge all details!!

Rocks - Your cousin's ring is gorgeous! That's a nice perspective since my center stone is 1.6. Do you have a family shot of all the 3 stones :mrgreen2:?

Now that's a thought! Unfortunately not, and I won't see her for a month or so.

@JDDN ! I didn't know you were getting a 3 stone! I love the proportions you're considering. Mind you - I love any 3 stone proportions; I just think the look of 3 stones in a row is awesome.

I'm going with the Tiffany proportions - 1/2/1 - but that's largely to get finger coverage for my size 7.5 fingers. I'll love going on this journey with you - I hope everything smooths out in the end and you enjoy the process.

ETA What size are your fingers? That makes a big difference to what size your side stones should be.

Lol, I too like the look of 3 stones in a row, no matter the proportions!

You know some people carry off the Tiffany proportions SO well and can just rock the look with style and sophistication. I don't doubt for a moment that you are one of those people (LLJ is another that comes to mind).

Thank you for going on my journey with me :rolleyes2:. It's so fun to accompany others on their bling journeys, I can't get enough of it! I actually was not able to get the side stones I wanted after all. But....I think this has made me stop and think a little longer. I will definitely update, but I'm hoping to do a 3 stone with all AVR's instead. I change with the wind too mrs-b!!!! I've always planned on an AVR and I think that this may be telling me to just go and do it!!

Oh, finger is size 5 and 1/4 but I get it a 5 and 3/8 to fit over my ginormous knuckle.
