Hi this is my first posting, I have been lurking in the background learning all about diamonds from this wonderful site. I would like to get a new ring for my 30th wedding anniversary in June as I have just given my daughter my original diamond for her to have set in her new engagement ring. I am after a bigger diamond ie:a 7mm across round brilliant to set into a 2620 Tacori setting which i have fallen in love with (any many others I gather). I have been in contact with Whiteflash and they have sent me this diamond for perusal so any advice is appreciated.

I hope the link works, please let me know if it didn't what to do to fix it.
Much appreciated from Perth Australia (down under0

Thanks for the help Flyingpib, (love your name). I am just bit concerned with the J colour but whiteflash replied that because it was a well cut diamond it would face up whiter. I was going to set it in the Tacori 2620 with a white gold basket and rose gold shank. Do you think that would be okay or should I do it all rose gold to offset the colouring?

My lady and I have no problem with J/K color diamond on an all platinum/white gold setting (or any setting)
Some people just cannot do J regardless.
This is highly subjective.

A very recent thread

Hi Shelly9 - - ...from your other post yesterday...I just pulled that distance out of the air - my offices are in Melbourne...so I may have been out by a 1000km or so
Regarding buying overseas, just make sure that you're factoring all the possible associated costs of bringing a stone/ring into the country (ex rate / gst / duty / entry fees / fedex advancement fees / insurance / etc) - - some may/may not apply - just make sure you check so that you don't get any surprise phone calls from customs :shifty: ... :D
Also, since I'm in the trade, I'm not allowed to comment on the stone specifically (against forum rules) - but I will say in general, if you haven't seen a J colour in person, you might want to go and have a look at a couple to make sure you're comfortable with it before getting something shipped half way around the globe ;-)
Good luck

Thanks ADN thought you might have been Mellb or Syd. I thought we had free trade agreement with USA and it would only be the gst of 10% plus postage too. Do you have any suggestions of places to look in Aus? What do you think of the Whiteflash diamond i posted? Can you say or not

ADN, as a trade member, cannot comment on a specific stone. He won't recommend you his competitors either for very obvious reasons.

ADN http://www.australiandiamondnetwork.com.au/
GR8LEO87 www.swanstar.com.au

I don't know anything about these businesses. But these two are Aussie trade members who regularly contribute in this forum.
You may want to contact their businesses directly if you require assistance locally.

For duty...

Australia
Estimated Duty Rate
Loose Diamonds: 0%
U.S. origin goods: 0%
Orders under AU$ 1,000: 0%
Other orders: 5%

Again, I don't know anything about AUSFTA. But under NAFTA (I am in Canada), there is no duty. But Canadian custom hits you all sorts of fee, if documentation on the shipping package is incomplete. James Allen, in this regard, is impeccable; that's why I choose JA for my diamond related purchases. Can't say anything about WF or other vendors.

 - Sorry I can't comment or I'll get banned - - - I'd love to be able to tell you...hypothetically...that it looks like a really beautiful stone...but I can't do that... ;-)

Thankyou MollyMallone for sorting the link out. What do you think of the diamond? Can you tell if it's ok by the information provided?

Hi Shelley :wavey: ,
You didn't mention what color your previous stone is and who it was graded by. Is there anywhere you can go to look at well cut j colored stones? I think since you are overseas, it would be good to know what your color tolerance is.

The ACA is a lovely stone. Is the L colored stone eye-clean? It also looks very nice.

Thanks tyty333 my previous diamond was a .70 G S12 so my daughter is getting a lovely stone at a big discount. Thats why I'm a bit nervous about going to a lower coloured stone but after reading numerous posts here on PS there seems to be alot of people content with the lower colours. Any other stones anyone can find would be appreciated.
