Art Nouveau antique style

I'm all over the place lately  and am recently very taken by a particular Art Nouveau antique Russian cocktail ring. It seems very suited to small stones and my plan is to set both my yellow and pink FCDs in it. The problem now is that I don't know who can create such a ring. I can easily find bench who specializes in pave or diamond melee work, organic and modern or contemporary but have no idea about antique style settings. There is no engraving or scroll work at all. If anything, it is very plain in that regard but metal work becomes more important because the ring design creates a "picture". Metal is bent and shaped to create a 3D picture of a simple and small bouquet, with the stones being the flowers. Any thoughts as to who does this type of work?

Well some of the Van Creaynest pieces are sort of in that style. But I guess you're looking for something totally custom right? What about the jeweler who designed the falcon ring that someone here had. Not sure what type of bird it was exactly but it was flowing with small stones I think.

For some inspiration. Lang antique has a page on the Art Nouveau style.

I am not ready to show the picture yet but I doubt it can be done via CAD. It is almost completely thin wire work that is bent and twisted into the shape. It is in the same style as the brooch, where the lines are clean and simple, yet paints a picture.

InnerKitten,
Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, it will be a custom piece so unfortunately, none of your suggestions will pan out because one of them sells true antiques and the other is a branded designer who is very unlikely to accept outside stones.

Lovely! A bit much but I'm sure he can do it. Sigh....I don't want to send my stones all the way to New Zealand though.

What about the person who designed the bird ring on here on PS? I wish I could remember who it was. All the tiny pieces the wings and beak were tiny and put together really well. That person would have the skill. You need hand done leaves and flowers he/she could do it.

He's a great choice, but he's backed up for a good long while... I think i remember the number three and the word years thrown around... but can't be for certain... It wouldn't hurt to contact him though. He's awesome and has adorable cats.

I am hoping to have more choices other than GreenLake.

Has anyone heard of this person and shop?

I haven't heard of them but the pendant is an interesting design. I like it. That type of hand done filigree is a specialty. You have to train to learn it according to my Jewelry teacher. So the average jeweler might not have those skills. From what I understand it's popular in Indonesia.

Ooooh I like the lily ring. http://www.coroflot.com/joeworley/Platinum-Calla-Lilly-Art-Nouveau-Ring

Not at all, they are only 10 years old or so. They were gifted to me but purchased in the Far East.

There was someone who had a pendant done somewhat recently -- within the last six months? -- that had lovely twisted wirework. It was centered around a cabachon, I think? And I remember it was custom, and there was a designer mentioned. I'll see if I can find it.

ETA: found it! Tanzigrrl's opal pendant. Courtney P. at Aurum Studios in Athens, GA is the designer.

I agree with the post above, this looks like a person to at least contact and get a quote.

Isn't it hard to take the little guys out of their cases? I hate having to do that and take a leap of faith with a stranger. So I understand the hesitancy.

Man, I love some of the detailed old russian work done around demantoids. It's just spectacular, you don't really see anything like that today.

Have you considered Cross Jewelers? I visited their shop a few weeks ago. The guy I spoke to was very nice and knowledgable. They accept outside stones, and do custom.

Wow Chrono - you've certainly hunted out some spectacular work - that lily brooch is beautiful! And I agree that Joe Worley's work is lovely. Mike in NZ could undoubtedly do it but I understand the reluctance to send your stones to NZ.

I've posted Alex Maryaskin's work before. His site used to be Art of Filigree (and I believe Inner Kitten is right that it's a specialized field) but he now seems to be on Etsy http://www.etsy.com/shop/SimplyUniqueJD?page=1 - I don't know that anything there is what you're looking for but the man can certainly bend wire if that's the overriding concern. Everything is handmade (I think the pendant/slide at the bottom may look a bit wonky because of the angle of photography).

Sigh....this one is not going to work, I'm afraid. I checked out their website and everything looks ultra modern in design.

Cross Jewelers
Very promising, especially since I spotted some spectacular engraving work which is exactly what I am looking for in another ring project but there is no mention of custom work, no example of custom work or anything like that. It seems to be "off the shelf" type of store where you pick the stone and "custom" setting and that's that.

Alex Maryaskin
Some very interesting work but to date, I've had two very poor experiences with Etsy so I am understandably leery with a 3rd attempt.

Cookie,
They do custom work? I checked out every page online and there was no mention of custom anywhere other than modifying a setting to fit a bigger stone. Guess I should call them, shouldn't I?

Yeah, please call them, and let us know what they say. "I think" I was told they do custom work, but I may have missed some words the guy said to me, because I was very excited and busy playing with their rings. I also saw the Victory ring that Selkie got; its fishtail prongs are so delicate in real life! I would say for the least, their diamond/gemstone setting skills are superb.

Maybe you could contact Richard Wise. I was looking at the "from our workshop" category under Designers and, while a lot of their stuff is very modern, I came across a few like this: http://www.rwwise.com/products/id|1518
