Hi PSers,

My husband is starting to hint around that he may purchase me a pair of diamond studs for our 1st anniversary. I want to give him some hints as well as far as what to prioritize to get the most bang and ear coverage for our buck.

Budget: Less than $3,000
1-1.5 TCW
Platinum
I color or higher
Excellent to Ideal Cut
SI1 or higher clarity

Does this seem realistic? Took a quick glance at Whiteflash and the budget seems to be a little low. TIA

Try B2C jewels, ID jewelry (tell them you want ideal cut or PS quality stones) or Martin at USA certified diamonds if your budget is tight.

My studs are from BN and are 1.4 ctw F color, SI1 and ideal specs. They are in martini settings 18k white gold and were about $5200.

If you are looking for super ideal cut stones, that are a branded cut I think the budget is too low. I just looked at high performance diamonds and each stone is about $2,400 for half a carat. Brian Gavin diamonds is about $3,500 for a 1 carat pair.

For a budget that you need to stick to, definitely contact ID jewelry.

Even the preset studs at James Allen that are 1 carat total weight and platinum that you don't know anything about the cut other than what they estimate, are 3700.

I suggest you contact Yekutiel at ID Jewelry. [email protected]. Attention Yekutiel on subject line. Tell him you were recommended by PriceScope forum and need good quality stones within your budget. And confirm his upgrade policy. Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for the suggestions! Would love to see a pic of your studs on your ears, if you have one.

There is a post called “show me your studs” on the show me the bling board that has pics. I started off with E color VS from blue Nile at .88 and then upgraded with $12 over double lol to get to 1.4.

It’s not a bad way to go, but I would do it with someone with a better upgrade policy because now I’m stuck at 1.4 whereas I may have preferred to go to 1.6 or so. Now to spend double, it would put me around the 2 ctw mark and I just don’t think I have enough real estate on my lobes for that jump.

I agree with @whitewave to go for an upgrade policy. I purchased some studs for my second piecing from Whiteflash that are around your price range. They are .86 cttw but I will be able to upgrade them whenever i want. Plus you get the beauty of an ACA. They are total sparklers!
