well luckily he didn''t leave my ring on a shelf for 3 months this time around
And without further ado, here are some really sub par pictures. Today I have learned the lighting in my house, although very energy efficient, is terrible for photographing diamonds. I''ll try and get better shots tomorrow, although the forecast says thunderstorms, hrm. Well, heres what I have for now, enjoy!
The setting is platinum with rose gold bezels around the surprise stones. DH doesn''t seem to know the carat weight on the melee, I guess I''ll have to check the paper work
First is the ring in the silver trinket box he presented it in. He said he had been looking for a nice antique box for me but everything kept selling for more than he paid for the setting and he just couldn''t do it.
This picture shows the pretty prongs well. I like that its a nice balance between the Leon style claws (which probably would overwhelm a stone this size) and a typical rounded prong. DH said he drove the jeweler batty getting the prongs just right.
Last one for tonight. My best attempt at a handshot. Gives the overall feel of the ring pretty well. I really love it, I think DH did a fantastic job finding this asscher a good home.
With any luck we''ll actually have some sun tomorrow and I''ll be back with more. Until then, thanks for looking!
OMG, OMG, OMG I loooovvvveeee it! Your hubby did a wonderful job with the setting! The surprise stones are such a special added touch! Can''t wait to see more awesome pictures taken in the sunlight (although it looks awesome already). Congratulations!
Rhapsody, I have been waiting for you to get your Asscher set, and it''s GORGEOUS!!!!! I''m in love with your diamond . . . it''s just so quintessentially Asscher!
I can''t wait to see more pics. A couple of asscher photographing hints I''ve learned if you don''t mind - try laying your ring on a window sill, sitting the camera on the ledge in front of it by about 4-6", switching the camera to Manual and macro, dropping the ISO to ~50, and zooming in a hair until it focuses. Then hold still as you snap the pic. Or, choose the multiframe option and just hold the button down to get multiple shots.
Late afternoon is the best time to have a windowsill photoshoot.
DH thanks everyone for approving of his design. He was very nervous as this is the first (remotely expensive) thing he''s bought for me without my direct input. He says the inspiration was the shank off a Daniel K ring and the profile/prongs from a Scott Kay ring.
Motownmama, its our 2nd wedding anniversary, our 10th together.
Lauren, thanks for the tips. I''m pretty good with my camera, but we moved recently so I''m still figuring out where the best light is
The sun finally came out! I only managed to get a few pictures before I had to go rescue hubby at the mechanic, but I think what I got covers all the bases. Except flower shots. But, I have no flowers. I just noticed that none of the bulbs I planted in the fall bloomed
But, at least I have a shiny new diamond to look at instead
