What a beauty: both the stone and ring compliment each other where both are equally gorgeous.

Hi, thanks Chrono!

Actually I''m wondering if you or anyone else here can answer something for me about my garnet -
with re to Gene''s grading system, he gave it only a 5 for colour and 4+ for clarity (on a scale of 1 - 10), which has me kinda baffled..
I admit I know very little about coloured gems, however to me the colour on it is awesome, and it is completely eye and loupe clean..
I have read Gene''s explanation of his gradings, but just wondering is there something about it I am missing..?
As in, perhaps its not a "desired" colour for an umbalite?

Don''t get me wrong, at the end of the day I have absolutely nothing but love for my ring and the grading means nil to me
personally, I''m just looking to learn for the purposes of both education and future purchases.

Thanks in advance anyone who''d like to help

Arjunajane, I could be wrong but I''m pretty sure you bought your garnet before Gene implemented his new grading system with scale of 1-10. Prior grading system was 1-5 for both color and scale, which makes your garnet grades make much better sense

This ring is one of my favorites by far, I love everything about it. The stone, setting, size, everything! One day I would love to have a JM ring myself with a gorgeous stone like yours

I''m curious though, if you can, do you mind taking some photos of how the stone looks indoors? I love my Garnets (some from Gene) which all look absolutely gorgeous outside but go dark as soon as I step indoors and have been wondering if that''s just how garnets are, that they''re daylight stones.

This is what I was thinking, too! I don''t think Gene gave that wonderful stone a 5/10
