Advice for the Purist..D IF or D VVS1?

Last edited:
Both HPD10583 and HPD9765 are beautiful, but it sounds like your future fiancee has a strong preference for smaller diamonds, so give her want she wants.
The diamond specs you're looking for are already quite high, so any future trade-ins will likely have to be larger in size to have the total be more than the original purchase (unless she wants two or more smaller diamonds, haha).

My all time favorite ring on PS is a half ct solitaire.

Do you have a link to the thread or photos of your favorite ring? ^^

Listen to this lady. She knows!!

Antwerp is on vacation right now, so I don’t think there will be new stock until September.

My first CBI was a .37 and it was just too small (but 7.25 finger), so I immediately traded it for a .56G.

At the get together, I did see about a .42 on a very small finger, and it looked amazing.

We older ladies have been married 24 years (for me) ++ so that is why we think go bigger lol.

But the wonderful news is that with CBI you both can enjoy this one now and upgrade later if she wants. She says she likes smaller so right now, go smaller. There is nothing wrong with that!

Like I said, heck, stick around ps long enough and she’ll wind up with at least 2 engagement rings to alternate lol.

Congratulations!!

So true! Eyesight goes a little bit with age and finger size also give a little so we older ladies like something we can see and looks good on bigger fingers. But no worries as you are looking at vendors with great upgrade policies. You can’t make a wrong decision!

These are all half carat diamonds. To my mind the secret of their success lies in well chosen settings that compliment but don't overwhelm the stone. Really any size stone can look lovely in a setting suited to the size and with a lovely complimenting band. Pictures one and two are on a size 5 hand and the third is on a size 4.

That second ring is the one which is my favorite, just for the record.

@rocheapplied - I saw someone with a different ID just bought a .41ct D IF and is now having a few problems. Was that you, by any chance?

I won't touch the size debate, but I wouldn't go with BGD. The reason is that you have to go up in at least TWO specs to upgrade... and you're already looking at D/E and VVS... there's really nowhere to go from there, and it would be exponentially more expensive. Just my $0.02...

Hey Mrs - b!

No - I went with the CBI 0.42 E VVS1 Stone!
Where was this post?? Curious to see what their problems are

Hey @rocheapplied! You inspired a "small stone challenge" in life. I just bought the .40 F SI1 CBI to make a right hand ring with.
I'm considering this Sholdt setting in yellow gold for it:

Thanks for the inspiration! Can't wait to see your finished ring!

Woohooo! That's a beautiful stone!!!

That's great! A beautiful stone.

The gentleman in this thread is looking at a .41ct D IF - so I immediately thought of you!

Thank you!! I very much appreciated all the advice you gave in the thread :)
I wonder if that gentleman had pics of the .41 D IF - I'm curious now!

I received the diamond a couple of days ago - I'm wondering if I should post pictures of it now, or wait until the setting is complete with it!!!!

Polished, mrs-b,
Do you know to whom the first two rings Polished posted belong? I was only able to find the thread for the third ring. (It belongs to Monchup in case anyone else is also interested. https://www.pricescope.com/communit...e-torchiere-with-0-5ct-whiteflash-aca.208844/)

With great anticipation, here are two pics I was able to take of the stone (one with the 10x loupe), and the other with the ASET Scope!!! Curious to hear everyones thoughts!! :)
