Hello all,

Looking for an opinion on a diamond I am considering purchasing. To be specific, I am looking for a 1.5 in an I colour that has excellent cut, clarity perfect to the naked eye, along with an impressive idealscope around a budget of under 10K USD.

Should I be concerned if the inclusions will be noticeable under eye level scrutiny?

I wouldn't consider any stone that isn't certified by AGS or GIA. Do you need to buy from JA, or can we look elsewhere and help you find a better stone?
 
Agree with the comment above. Personally, I’d avoide black crystal inclusions at all cost...

If you want to press the "easy button" so-to-speak, you can get a super-ideal stone from Whiteflash, Brian Gavin, or High performance diamonds. You'll sacrifice a bit on size (probably closer to 1.3 or 1.4ct), but you'll get a super-ideal cut.

Thanks for your feedback. I am open to looking elsewhere but haven't really looked beyond that particular website. What did you have in mind? Looking to secure something within the next month.

*Edit - To be more specific, would prefer around an I colour, vs2 and up if possible as well. Thanks!

haha I think we were posting at the same time! We can find you something significantly better within a day or two if necessary. There are lots of trusted websites, and JA is actually higher in price right now vs. other vendors. See my links above, or consider going down a bit in size for a branded "super ideal" cut.

A bit smaller than the 1.5 you want, but under budget and going to be amazing (you can search "crafted by infinity/CBI on this board and see how much people love these stones).

Great cut! I am thinking I want to be set around 1.5c however.

I am willing to wait a day or two and inclusions are not a terribly big deal unless it is not eye clean.
 
I found my stone on JA and was about to pull the trigger. Luckily I scoped out a local recommendation and told them what I was eyeing. They had access to the exact stone and managed to get it into Australia with shipping, VAT import tax, GST all inclusive for price lower than the JA listing! I was then able to see it in person before I was 100% committed to it.

See if you can get a trustworthy local dealer who can at least price match or make it cheaper.

Ditto this. It may look like a deal, but the specs could be on the money, a J SI-1, or some lower combination. If I VS2 is your absolute cut off, I'd stick with a reliable report. Or see a trustworthy appraiser to confirm specs within your return window.

Also, is an upgrade policy important to you to have for the future?

Sorry didn't get to the nuts and bolts of my response.

What I meant was many physical vendors have access to the same JA stones you may like. Get it shipped so you can judge with your own eyes physically if it's eye clean. Can always send it back.

I emailed them and was told they are closed today and reopening on September 19! So I will not know. That inclusion right smack center does seem to stand out quite a bit even tho it is 20x mag..
 
Just a quick update, looking at the options available so far (you guys have been very helpful!), I've narrowed it down to these two:

Between these two, anything I should be wary of and which would you guys lean towards? I asked for an idealscope image of number 2 but it is not available, still waiting on number 1 if they have it (likely no). It is unfortunate the images are not available as I want something that has great light performance and don't know how to tell if it does based on the information that is present.
