First off, I want to say a big thank you to everyone here who has been so supportive and patient with me during this upgrade process. Needless to say, I''ve been a bit neurotic the last couple of weeks. Specifically, I want to thank Mara (for always having something useful and valuable to say), Rich Sherwood (he probably doesn''t even know how helpful his PM was to me, but it saved my sanity), and most importantly to Lynn B for knowing EXACTLY what to say and for being so kind to me.

(Amusing sidenote: My husband just asked me what I was doing over here typing so furiously. I told him I was "introdcuing my ring." He laughed and said, "Ring, this is Mara. Mara, this is ring.")

Okay, the reason I say I''m 99.9% thrilled is that there is a slight problem with how the diamond is set. Namely, it is set so high that it looks like the Towering Inferno. I think part of the problem is that the diamond is big (

), so it will necessarily sit higher than my other stone. But the jeweler did seem to think he could get it set down a bit lower. Apparently, it''s not that easy. Anyway, since I live in Canada and he''s in WA state, I will have to wait until next Wednesday when I go down again for him to do it. So, I''ll live with it like this for a week. It only looks ridiculous from certain angles. It''s 9.7 mm from finger to top of mounting!!

Other than that, I am absolutely IN LOVE with this diamond. Whatever worries I had have disappeared. It is white and sparkly and big! It''s on fire and just glorious to look at in every lighting situation!! I couldn''t be more thrilled. The other thing I''m happy about is that the solitaire and the wedding band sit flush enough to make me happy. They look great together. A different look than my other set, for sure, but still beautiful and much more wearable.

So, without further ado, meet my ring.

Look! It''s even bigger than Lynn''s doorknob!!!!!

Here's a pic of The Towering Inferno. It looks even taller in real life. It's weird because it doesn't seem like the diamond fills out the prongs, if that makes sense...

Jeez, I've choked on marbles half that size!

GOD almighty, what a STRIKING stone. I'm not a size girl, and I'm jealous.

So, SO happy you are thrilled - that's what it's all about. Wear and enjoy!

PS.....(whispering)......ummmm....by the way, I'd refrain from the "ring, this is Mara" notion. You may never see it again if that happens!"

I can see that it''s high, Id probably move it down about 1mm but NO MORE, I love when you see the culet. It''s perfect though. I just love it. It looks great.

Thanks guys for all the kind words!!!! I am just so happy with this diamond. Hope the mounting situation can get resolved, but I really think I will enjoy having a solitaire for now.

Okay, last one for now...

Can you take one from the other "side" angle so I can see the prongs better?

Ame -- I'll work on that right away. What do you think of the height? Doesn't it seem ridiculously tall?? It seems like there's too much space between the prongs and the diamond, not just from top to bottom, but from side to side. Does that make sense?

Anyway, someone asked for specs, so here they are!! I know that some people would consider this a shallow/shallow combo (better suited for a pendant), but I just can't imagine this diamond being more sparkly and alive. Dare I say I like it better than my old diamond, not just for the size but for the sparkle??

Great Caesar''s Ghost that is STUNNING! The diamond is superb, and I am a big fan of the solitaire/eternity band look.

I have had the heads lowered on 2 of my solitaires, so I wouldn''t worry.

okay...this is the last one...promise

can I just say WOW again! I agree that diamond is just a firecracker. I LOVE it!!!

Oh and what is your finger size? I have to yanno, compare.

Yup! Thank you. I was trying to see what kind of head that was, I was thinking there was some kind of solstice detail because you mentioned the gap, that solstice setting makes a pretty big gap if you don''t have it peg-set, at least from what I went through. I like it better how you have it. But yes it is really high, though I like being able to see the Culet like that. Maybe bring it down a millimeter so you can see it still but not as obviously.

The prongs are PERFECT though. Lined up well and well shaped! Very much in love!
No need for 40x

Excuse me, sorry, I couldn''t type for a second because my hands are shaking so much looking at your ring!!

IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I don''t really like rounds all that much, but yours is changing my mind! It looks like 4 carats!

I see what you mean about the height, I would have it taken down a little as well. Otherwise, it is PERFECT!

I''m so jealous, time to hit up my husband again for the "upgrade talk".....this time I''m bringing out the booze
