First off, I want to say a big thank you to everyone here who has been so supportive and patient with me during this upgrade process. Needless to say, I''ve been a bit neurotic the last couple of weeks. Specifically, I want to thank Mara (for always having something useful and valuable to say), Rich Sherwood (he probably doesn''t even know how helpful his PM was to me, but it saved my sanity), and most importantly to Lynn B for knowing EXACTLY what to say and for being so kind to me.
(Amusing sidenote: My husband just asked me what I was doing over here typing so furiously. I told him I was "introdcuing my ring." He laughed and said, "Ring, this is Mara. Mara, this is ring.")
Okay, the reason I say I''m 99.9% thrilled is that there is a slight problem with how the diamond is set. Namely, it is set so high that it looks like the Towering Inferno. I think part of the problem is that the diamond is big (
), so it will necessarily sit higher than my other stone. But the jeweler did seem to think he could get it set down a bit lower. Apparently, it''s not that easy. Anyway, since I live in Canada and he''s in WA state, I will have to wait until next Wednesday when I go down again for him to do it. So, I''ll live with it like this for a week. It only looks ridiculous from certain angles. It''s 9.7 mm from finger to top of mounting!!
Other than that, I am absolutely IN LOVE with this diamond. Whatever worries I had have disappeared. It is white and sparkly and big! It''s on fire and just glorious to look at in every lighting situation!! I couldn''t be more thrilled. The other thing I''m happy about is that the solitaire and the wedding band sit flush enough to make me happy. They look great together. A different look than my other set, for sure, but still beautiful and much more wearable.
So, without further ado, meet my ring.
Look! It''s even bigger than Lynn''s doorknob!!!!!
