Hi all,
My aunt has inherited a ring and we are trying to figure out if it's a real diamond. From comparing it to my 2ct round, I am guessing the centre stone is easily 8-10 cts.I examined it with my loupe and I can see teeny tiny bubble inclusions so Im thinking it's the real deal.
its definitely an emerald cut, I can't detect any hint of colour (and I'm quite sensitive to colour) - again I was comparing it to my E colour.
I was examining the cut and the facet on one of the slides looks slanted - like it's thicker at one side versus the other. Could this be an indication that it's a man made stone and not a diamond? I tried the 'fog test' and it doesn't fog up!
The ring is hallmarked, it's 9ct gold (white) and I think it originated in Birmingham as it is also stamped with an anchor symbol.
I'm bringing it to a diamond dealer next week but in the meantime, does anyone have any insight as to whether this is likely to be a diamond?
Thanks!
