I'd like to have a 5-stone OEC band made up. I have access to 5 OECs, one is 4.5 mm and the other four are 4.2 mm.

Using jeweler's calipers on top of my finger, it would seem that these 5 stones set (horizontally) next to each other are longer than my actual finger width.

Those of you with 3-, 5- and 7-stone bands, what are the dimensions of your stones? How did you arrive at stone size for your bands?

I'm looking for some guidance here to prevent an after-the-fact mistake.

Thank you!!!

I had a 5 stone that was .87 and I always thought if it just had one more stone on each end it would be perfect(full finger coverage).
I am a size 6.75. So when I lost the 5 stone I replaced it with a 1.4 ctw 7 stone which gives me across the top and a little down the sides
for full finger coverage. You can see it in my avatar. Its exactly the amount of coverage I need and would not change a thing about
the size of the stones/number of stones if I ever had to replace it.

Maybe go buy some cheapy 5 stones in different stone sizes to see what you are more comfortable with. See if stones going between your fingers
bothers you or not. Where my stones end sort of helps keep the stones positioned on top so it rarely spins. Another plus.

@tyty333, I was thinking of your avatar ring and was hoping you'd respond, thank you>

I made a paper replica of the stones and fit it across my ring finger, which is size 7.5.

So your 7-stoner, those are 20-pointers, right? They make for excellent finger coverage and presence!

@azstonie,

My 7 stone band isn’t finished, yet, BUT, this was a dilemma I faced, while searching for my 7 Asschers.
I tried on different sized stones to see which size was most comfortable, and covered my finger. The jeweler didn’t have any 7 stone rings, but I tried on 5 stone rings, and my sweet spot was 25-30 pt diamonds. I’m a size 5.5 finger (I wear a 6 for comfort in summer). 7 3.5mm (25pt) diamonds cover 3/4 of my finger, without causing discomfort. My band will be set as low as my WR, so the only difference in size that will be noticeable will be from the top (the largest diamonds in my WR are between 15-20pt). 25pt diamonds will really stand out on my finger.
There was a lot more involved in my circumstance because I needed each stone to be the exact same, or as close to it, dimensions...squared.
OEC’s will be beautiful! I can’t wait to see what you decide to do!!!! :mrgreen2:

How large is your finger? So my finger size is a 4.5 and I have .30 stones. So I guess my stones are 4.25 mm each according to the diamond weight charts. I was only able to try on a 1 ctw ring for comparison before I ordered mine from IDJ. The size is just perfect for my finger. I had a hard time finding 5 stones to try on locally that were bigger than 1 ctw. I measured on my finger with sewing measuring tape at home and I also hunted the boards for size 4.5 fingers with a 1.5 ctw 5 stone band. I waffled between a 1.25 and a 1.5 for a long time but finally decided to go with the 1.5. It turned out to the be the perfect size for a 5 stone for me.

@soxfan, are you still loving your 5-stone ring? Any advice or comment for me?? :wavey:

Yes! I still love it very much! I would ask your vendor about the size of the stones with your finger size. I think they would know- also look over all the posts on PS- it took me weeks to read them all. Search for your finger size and 5 stone rings.

5 stone profile.JPG 5 stone 1.JPG I just recently purchased a 5 stone band TCW. 1.5, so 5 stones of .30 each (round brilliant). My ring size is 6.75 and the ring covers my finger across the top. I love the way it fits and it's perfect for me.

Dsndogs - very pretty!

Thank you. Stones are F/VS2. I got it from Aby Nathanoff at Jewelry U Love By Aby. I am enjoying wearing it!

My OEC 5 stone is 1tcw, each stone is 3.5mm. If it were a 7 stone it would be perfect with total finger coverage, size 6.75. I bought these as a parcel and fell in love with the stones but one day will make a 7 stone band with similar proportions.

Would you be willing to share some photos? I’m considering something similar for myself and would love to see yours!

I also used a sewing measuring tape to get a rough idea. My right hand is a size 5, but my ring is sized to 5.25, and 7 3mm stones (so total of 2.1cm) completely cover the top of my finger with my fingers loosely together. With fingers slightly apart, I sometimes see a very small amount of metal from the side, but personally I prefer this to feeling stones between my fingers for this style of ring.

Sorry, I just saw this - here you go. Let me know if you’d like other angles or anything.
